-This is a pretty short chapter-
Shane's POV
"Dear God, is your boyfriend made out of metal? He's really heavy." One of the girls carrying me whines.
"Not now, Jess." The other one hisses back. "Sh!"
We travel into the dark, with the little light a small torchlight provides.
"Right or left?"
I open my eyes slightly and see that we're at a fork.
"This wasn't here last time!" The girl's voice rises an octave higher. Her breath quickens, and her tiny heart races erratically, fluttering against my back.
"Well you have to make a decision, and fast. Shane needs medical attention. Now."
Who? Oh right, me, I'm Shane. But me? Medical attention? Nah, I'm just peachy! It's just this annoyingly unsteady boat rocking.
I scowl at the fireflies dancing in my view. I wave my hand at them and tell them to piss off.
My hand nearly hits the girls carrying me and the duck. They exchange some sort of glance between them.
"Shane! You're awake?" The one with the erratic heartbeat asks, concern lacing her voice.
"Of course I am. This blasted boat keeps rocking, it's waking me up. I feel sick!" I complain.
Ignoring me, the girls turn their heads back to the fork. "I don't suppose that pathetic torchlight of yours could shine far enough for me to judge which way to take. I guess we'll just take..." The brunette one trails off.
A few seconds tick by as she makes up her mind.
"Right. Let's go right."
What is that girl's name? Kaitlyn? Katherine? No, Katie. Yes, Katie. She's the captain, right? Have to feedback on this ship, it's horribly shaky.
"Katie, this ship really needs to improve. It's like an earthquake!"
"No no no no no, not now. We should be almost there! Hang in there Shane." Comes the reply. Did I say something wrong?
The one names Jessica climbs up the ladder first and pulls me up while Katie hoists me up from below. They carry me again into the car and speed off onto the highway.
A wave of headache hits me and I lie down and moan in the back seat.
Opening my eyes, I look up to see bright spots dancing before me. "Looook at all yose pretty staars." My speech is slurred. I don't think I drank, did I?
"Katie, you might want to hurry, Shane's starting to hallucinate and see stars!" Jessica prompts.
"Screw the speed limits!" Katie calls from the front.
"Ware wee going?" I question Jessica. She presses her lips into a thin line.
"The White Shadow headquarters. You need help."
That's the last thing I hear before a wave of darkness crashes over me as I'm swept into a blissful oblivion.
