OKAY IM GETTING CONFUSED.
i keep forgetting where everyone else lives. like does finn live in jaeden or wyatt's area?? what about sophia? i'm pretty sure i've messed up a bit but i'll try to clear that up now.
sadie, jack, and sophia live in jaeden's area. everyone else like finn, jeremy, chosen etc live in wyatt's area. don't tell me i screwed up because i know😭"finn?" [i know you guys were expecting wyatt but be grateful that i gave you this adorable bean okay😭]
"the one and only. well, there's probably more finns in this world, but i'm trying to be cool—"
he was cut off by jack jumping on him, knocking him over.
"shut up. just shut up." jack's words were muffled in finn's shirt.
over these past few weeks, the two boys had grown closer through texting and calling. jack grew a massive crush on finn, but he knew it would never work. finn was straight.
"what the fuck are you doing here?" jack got off him.
"well, i heard what happened, so..." finn's eyes lingered on jaeden.
"oh." jack gazed at jaeden also, then at finn who he caught looking at him. jack blushed slightly as finn quickly looked away. finn cleared his throat. "so, um—"
"where will you be staying tonight?"
finn stared at him for a moment, confused. "i haven't really figured that out, why?"
jack looked at the floor and shrugged. "you could stay at mine, if you want."
"no, no. i don't wanna cause any inconvenience."
"you won't. it'd be nice to have some company other than my parents." jack smiled softly. finn grinned. "as long as your parents won't mind."
"they won't."
— that night —
jack jumped on his bed, exhausted. he turned his head to look at finn, who was awkwardly standing in the doorway. he patted the space next to him and sat up. finn walked over and slowly seated himself next to jack. the silence in the room definitely wasn't comfortable; it was the opposite.
"so..." jack started, looking around his messy room. "what do you wanna do now?"
finn shrugged, biting his lip. "um, what time is it?"
jack checked his phone. "9:16."
the taller boy shrugged and examined the unfamiliar room. there were a bunch of video games messily stacked on top of each other next to a small tv, a timber book shelf with mainly movies and a few books here and there, some photos stuck to the wall by blu-tack, an electronic piano, but something caught his eye way before he'd seen all that. it was brightly coloured and large. finn knew exactly what it was.
a pansexual pride flag.
he decided not to ask about it as he didn't want to interfere with his personal life. finn certainly wasn't judging—okay, he was, but in a good way. he found it sweet that jack supported the pansexual community. he didn't even mind if jack was part of it.
jack noticed finn was staring at something, and followed his gaze. his heart started pounding when he realised what finn had been staring at. shit, shit, shit, shit. i forgot to take it down. oh my god, he's gonna hate me. what if he's against pansexuals?
while jack tried thinking up an excuse, finn said, "you like skateboarding?"
jack merely nodded. "yeah."
"me too. well, i don't ride a lot, but i enjoy it when i do."
"same." jack smiled at him, glad they had something to talk about. "maybe we could skate together some time?"
"that'd be nice." finn smiled softly. "i'm not very good at it, though."
"i'm sure you'll do great."
finn chuckled, and his face lit up. "do you watch the walking dead?"
"i've wanted to, but i never got bothered enough to watch it."
"i can relate." finn laughed. "so, how do you feel about watching it with me?"
jack nodded enthusiastically. "very keen."
[if you watch the walking dead i love you.]
the two boys watched the first few episodes on jack's laptop, occasionally sneaking a glance to each other. jack jumped a numerous amount of times from jump scares. jack hadn't noticed, but every time a gory scene came on, he tightened his grip on finn's t-shirt, scrunching it up in his hand. finn tried to hold back a giggle every time he did so.
"are you okay?" finn asked the small boy once he'd tightened his grip again. jack looked at him, confused, until he realised what he was doing, and let go. "shit, i'm sorry."
"don't sweat it." finn released a faint laugh. jack blushed and ensured he kept his hands away.
after one more episode, jack told finn he had to go to the bathroom. he did so and locked the door behind him. he stared at himself in the mirror, then shook his head, rinsed his face with water, and sighed.
he hated himself for being homosexual. why couldn't he be like other boys? why couldn't he be normal? he hated his perspective on boys.
jack quickly dried his face with a towel and left the bathroom. he smiled at finn, who'd looked up. finn returned the friendly gesture and shuffled over to expand the space for jack.
jack felt sick. am i really that fat?
he forced a fake smile over his lips and slid next to finn.
as time passed, they both fell asleep. jack was leaning on finn's shoulder while finn's head was placed on jack's. the show they were previously watching continued to play until the laptop went flat.
— 2 weeks later, friday; after school —
jaeden had gone over to jack's house after school. it was a warm day, but jaeden still chose to wear his long sleeves. you might know why.
they caught the bus, ignoring the other kids as they talked to each other. once they arrived at jack's house, they went inside and walked up to jack's room. it was a little bit awkward at first, but once they talked a bit and started up a conversation, it was alright. they'd grown closer over the past two weeks. jack's crush was pretty much crushing his happiness since he told himself jaeden was never going to like him back. at least, not in that way. jack convinced himself he liked finn more, even if finn didn't like boys.
jack stared at his lips while jaeden carried on talking about school. "and then the teacher was like, 'you can't do that!' and i responded with, 'i'm doing it right now so clearly i can!' and sh—" he was cut off by the shorter boy smashing his lips against his. he couldn't hold it back anymore. jack could've sworn that jaeden kissed back. even if he didn't, he pulled away. the curly-haired boy couldn't read his expression. was he mad? confused?
"what—why did you do that?" was all jaeden managed to let out.
"i—i..." he was lost for words. "i'm sorry. you like wyatt, i shouldn't have done that."
jack went to stand up and leave, but jaeden grabbed his wrist. "jack, i don't like you that way. i'm sorry."
jack shook his head, too embarrassed to look at the other boy. "it was a mistake."
i'm sorry i keep making this sad but i mean you can stop reading if you want 🤷🏻♀️😭
