"jack, don't—"
"hello?" the other line spoke. silence fell upon the room. "jaeden, are you there?"
"yes, jaeden is here. why are you calling him, asshole?" jack asked harshly.
"i—i wanted to explain..."
"with what? more lies? yeah, he's getting pretty sick of that."
"jack, just tell me talk to him, please."
"no way. you, are an asshole. do you want me to spell it out for you? a-s-s-h-o—"
"i get it! ugh, fine. just tell him to call me when he's alone." beep.
jaeden fiddled with his fingers. he wanted to talk to wyatt, but he knew jack wouldn't have allowed him to. jack was... protective.
jack left after an hour of talking to jaeden. jaeden desperately wanted to text or wyatt, but he realised he was too forgiving. he couldn't just forgive wyatt for what he did. wyatt knew jaeden was going through some rough shit and just because jaeden said he hated him didn't give him the right to just ignore him. jaeden bit his lip, getting emotional. he slowly got out of bed, pain reminding him why he was even there. he grabbed his things and left the room. he discharged himself and called an uber. not too long afterwards, the uber arrived. he hopped inside and directed the uber driver.
"you look pretty beat up, you okay kid?" the man asked, keeping his eyes on the road.
"yeah, just fell down the stairs."
"how long were you in the hospital for?"
"a few days."
the man simply nodded.
about half an hour later, he was dropped off at sadie's house. he knocked on the door and sadie's mum opened it. "hey, jaeden! what a lovely surprise."
"hey mrs sink." jaeden smiled. she let him in and told him sadie was in her room. he knocked on sadie's door, before hearing a 'come in'. he opened the door and closed it behind him.
"jaeden? you're supposed to be in the hospital!" she tackled him with a hug before quickly scrambling off him. "shit, sorry if i hurt you."
"how would you hurt me?" he chuckled and they sat on her bed.
"your ribs and—oh my god. your nose."
"yeah. it'll heal."
sadie shook her head. "why you gotta be such a tough cookie."
jaeden chuckled and sadie looked up with a wide smile. "let's play call of duty!"
"um, sure." jaeden shrugged and set up the xbox. sadie plopped down next to him and he handed her a controller. as he went to click on teams, she stopped him. "do free for all."
they played call of duty for a few hours, until sadie's mum called them downstairs for dinner. jaeden's phone dinged and he saw it was a text from jack.
"i'll wait for you downstairs." sadie told jaeden and he nodded.

deliveredjaedens heart beat quickly. he didn't want jack to go to his house—his dad could be home.
jack knocked on the wooden door. he hadn't felt the vibration from his phone in his pocket. there was no response, so he knocked again. eventually, the door swung open and alcohol and cigarette stench stung his nose.
