chapter 21 already wtf it still feels like chapter 5.

recap: "wyatt, i'll be fine on the couch."

"you've told me that." wyatt shrugged. "i don't believe you."

jaeden went to speak, but paused. eventually, he let out, "okay."

— a few minutes later —

jaeden climbed into the bed first. wyatt walked over to the other side and crawled next to him.

for the first few minutes, they were stiff, staring at the ceiling, not making a sound. jaeden turned his head to look at wyatt. "you're gay, right?"

wyatt look at jaeden, confused. "yeah, why?"

jaeden returned his gaze back to the ceiling. "cool."

wyatt stared at the boy for a moment, then averted his eyes to the ceiling as well. "yeah."

"this is weird." jaeden said, and wyatt got confused again. "what is?"

"well, a few things; seeing you in person, being in the same bed as you, going to the movies with you, sleeping with you—i don't know, it's just weird. well, it isn't weird, i just feel weird. is that weird? is it weird to feel weird? or is it normal to feel weird? it should be weird to feel weird because well if you're feeling weird then that's weird, right? because if you're feeling weird, then that's a weird feeling, so it isn't normal, it's weird." jaeden rambled. [late night thoughts.]

wyatt squinted his eyes. "i'm struggling to process that."

jaeden looked at wyatt. "is it weird?"

"i don't know. i guess."

"was it weird at the cinemas? when i slept on your shoulder? were you okay with that?"

"yeah, it was fine."

"but was it weird?"

"um, no—i don't know. was it weird for you?" wyatt made eye contact with jaeden.

"nah." jaeden smiled. "your shoulder was comfy."

wyatt chuckled. "that's good."

jaeden inhaled sharply, then giggled. "can i tell you something?"

"sure."

"i think finn likes jack."

"why's that?"

"i don't know. this sounds silly but the way finn looks at him and how he always laughs at his jokes even if it's extremely stupid that you want to bash your head against the wall and drop a brick on your face. it's just the little things, i guess."

"makes sense."

"wanna know one thing i hate?"

"what?"

"homophobes. god, they irritate me. well, they're alright, until they start criticising homosexual people. then they're just assholes. my dad's a homophobe. i don't know why, because his dad came out after my dad was born. so, he grew up in an environment where you were supposed to accept those who like the same gender. i don't understand my dad sometimes."
