j: i'm backkk

w: hello :)

j: hi :)

w: facetime??

j: yess!

-wyatt is requesting a facetime-

jaeden's breath hitched as his phone darkened when the call popped up. he bit his lip and quickly fixed his hair while looking in the mirror. for some unknown reason to him, he was nervous. trying to ignore the screams in his mind to reject the call because he's 'ugly' and 'annoying', he lightly tapped the green button.

wyatt's face appeared on jaeden's screen. the two smiled at each other, not really knowing what to say.

"hi," wyatt's angelic voice filled the air of jaeden's small bedroom.

"hey," jaeden responded, admiring the curly-haired boy's features.

"i like your voice," wyatt grinned more, "i wish i could hear it more often."

"i hate it," the other boy mumbled softly, not thinking wyatt would hear.

"why would you hate it?"

"it's just... gross," jaeden shrugged and looked down at his chipped black nails.

"i disagree."

for some odd reason, jaeden's heart fluttered. a smile tugged at his lips as his cheeks heated up.

"aw, you're cute."

jaeden playfully glared at him and rubbed his eyes, "whatever."

"do you think we could meet?" wyatt's eyes sparkled at the thought. although he hadn't known the boy for long, he wanted to hold him in his arms and talk to him instead of texting and fantasizing.

jaeden met his eyes and shrugged, "i'd like that. but where do you live?"

(i know at the beginning of this story they both said they live in derry but i'm changing that because 1. derry is from it and not real life whoops and 2. i want them to live in different areas so yeah)

(oh and i'm not a hugeee fan of them so i don't know where they live don't hate on me bye)

"los angeles, you?"

wyatt pouted, "chicago."

"oh," jaeden's smile fell, but he quickly picked it back up, "that's okay. we can still visit each other."

"but it won't be often," wyatt sighed, leaning his head on his hand.

"you're special, you know? a good kind," jaeden chewed on his bottom lip.

"why's that?"

"well, i don't really talk to other people. like at all. most people think i'm mute. they think i want attention. i don't. i used to stutter a lot growing up and i was bullied because of it, so i stopped talking. i'd talk to close people, like family, but i never ever talked to others. i've gotten better, though. i think so, anyways. i can talk to some people like maybe friendly classmates or something. i don't really know you, but i don't know. i guess i trust you," jaeden avoided wyatt's eye contact as he opened up about his life, "obviously, i don't stutter anymore. the habits can come back at random times. like sometimes i'm talking to my dad and i start stuttering really badly. it's humiliating, though, because he usually yells at me to start talking like a normal kid instead of acting like i'm demented."

wyatt's eyes softened at the words that escaped jaeden's mouth. "is there a reason to your stutter?"

"yeah. when i was three, i was hit by a car and knocked into a building. i was unconscious for seven hours. my mum said that the accident was the cause of my stutter, so i just went with it."

"your dad's an asshole," wyatt muttered.

"he-um, he isn't. he's just, i don't know. my stutter can get really annoying and repetitive so i can understand why he gets pissed."

"but he shouldn't call you demented. you're a normal person; it's not your fault that you got hit with that car."

"i know, but it doesn't matter. it is what it is."

"but-"

"can we p-please stop talk-king about this? i-it-" jaeden stopped when he noticed how he was struggling to get his words out. silence fell upon the two boys. jaeden was embarrassed and upset, he didn't want wyatt to witness his stutter.

"i-i have to g-go." and with that, jaeden pressed the red button before wyatt could let a word out. he covered his face with his hands and pulled at his hair that had fallen on his forehead. he wanted to scream.

"jaeden! who are you talking to?" he heard his father shout from downstairs.

"n-no one, dad!"

a small 'ding' sound startled him and his phone lit up.

wyatt: are u okay? :( i didn't mean to upset u, i'm so sorry jaeden

jaeden sighed and texted him back.

j: it's fine. i'm tired, i'm gonna head to sleep. gn wyatt :)

w: sleep well <3

jaeden bit his own tongue and walked to his bathroom. he made sure he locked the door once he entered. his eyes searched for the shiny, small piece of metal and he soon spotted it on the soap holder in the shower. he quickly grabbed the razor and placed it on his wrist, where other scars have taken place. blood was drawn and he lifted the razor.

"you deserve this, jaeden. everything that's done to you, you deserve it. freak," he convinced himself and jabbed it back into his wrist.

he hadn't hurt himself in a few weeks, but he knew the time of staying clean wasn't going to last much longer. it was an addiction, and he was addicted.

"jaeden? where are you?" an angered voice spoke from outside of the bathroom door. the door handle shook. "what are you doing in there? open up, jaeden!"

"i'm-i'll be out a-any s-second da-ad."

"you better be or i'll kick this fucking door down."

jaeden immediately put the razor back from where he found it and gave his wrist a quick wipe, then pulled his sleeve down.

"hurry up, faggot!"

jaeden wanted to scream, "don't call me that!" but where would that take him? most likely to the floor with blood accompanying him. he's always absolutely hated that word. it's horrible and insulting.

he unlocked the door and opened it cautiously, knowing his father was ready beat the living shit out of him for some fucked up reason.

"d-dad, whate-ever ch-christina did i-i'm s-sorry, jus-st please d-don't t-take it out o-on m-me," jaeden stuttered, then receiving a slap from the older man.

"s-s-s-sorry? i couldn't quite understand you through all the s-s-s-stuttering," his father, cole, mocked.

(i'm using a different name instead of jaeden's real fathers name because i don't believe he would ever do something like this and idk i just didn't want to use his name. hope u understand)

"d-dad..." jaeden whimpered as a tear tickled his nose. "pl-please don't h-hurt m-me."

"shut the fuck up, coward."

jaeden felt his head smash against the bathroom tiles, and everything was black.
