The apartment was gorgeous. Big and bright and wonderful.
“I can afford this?” Avery asked distractedly.
Chloe smiled. “Of course.”
“How much money do I have?” she asked with a frown.
“Lots.” Chloe said. “Remember that rich criminal who was on trial and you proved him innocent?”
“Vaguely.”
“He gave you a lot of money.”
“Did he? That’s good.”
“Plus all those other ones you helped. Criminals pay a lot.”
“Yeah,” Avery said, still unfocused as she looked around. “I like it.”
“I thought you would.”
Avery looked back at her and smiled, making Chloe blush slightly.
“I’ll take it.”
“Great.”
