I sat on the couch alone while Frankie and Gerard bickered shamelessly over their eyeliner. It was actually hilarious. Gerard was chasing Frankie around the tour bus, yelling at him to not use too much and that it was his turn. I snickered to myself at how close and child-like they were. Mikey was laughing at them calling the dumb asses, and buttoning his band jacket, and then struggled with his eyeliner. I decided to help Mikey out. Ray just shook his fro filled head and laughed because it only took him ten minutes to get fully ready. After about an hour, the guys were completely ready.
Gerard walked up to me, in his unbuttoned marching band jacket, messy raven hair, tight black skinnies, and mid-calf high combat boots, and extended his pale hand towards me. I smiled up at him and happily took it. He pulled me up off the couch and we walked off of the tour bus and into the Staples arena where they were performing. It was insane.
This morning when I woke up, I had planned on getting coffee, spending about 200 dollars on the black parade tickets, and fan-girling around my apartment excitedly until 8 o’clock. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would have met THE Gerard Way, become friends with him, meet the rest of the band, AND be his personal guest to his concert. Things like this never happened to me. I mean, I was just 28 year old alternative girl who had always been out-casted. Now, I was hanging out with My Chemical Romance.
“Storm? You there?” Gerard waved his hand in front of me face.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m here, sorry. I was spacing out.” I giggled embarrassed by the fact that I was that deep in thought.
“Is everything okay? Do you want to talk?” he asked stopping to face me, putting his hand on my waist.
“I was just thinking..” I paused and felt my face flush.
“Thinking what, sugar?”
“Things like this never happen to me. I’m just a regular girl from Jersey, and somehow, I’m here. With you and the band who saved my life so many fucking times. I don’t deserve this. I’m nothing special at all.” I sighed, smiling at him sadly.
Gerard put his hand on the nape of my neck and looked me in the eyes. His Hazel eyes were so intense that I couldn’t look away. He took a deep breath and opened his perfect mouth.
“Listen to me Stormy whatever your middle name is Weathers, you are not just some girl from Jersey. One, you are now from California. Two, you are an amazing, strong, gorgeous woman who I was lucky enough to meet. You are so thoughtful and kind. I want you here, the guys want you here. We, I, care about you immensely already. You’re the strongest person I have ever met. Don’t you ever doubt that or how amazing you are. You deserve to be here. “
“After this, I’ll never see you again, and I feel stupid, because I’m already attached to you guys, I have no one here.” I sighed looking down only to be forced to look at him by his cold hand pulling my chin up.
“I will never leave; I mean we will never leave you. You have us now, and we aren’t going anywhere. Even if that means taking you with us. You can be a part of our fucked up crazy family. You will never be alone as long as I’m breathing. Not again. I promise.” He smiled and leaned in towards me. It seemed insane, because I had only just met him this morning. Yet I believed him.
I nodded my head and smiled at him and leaned into his chest thanking him. He embraced me securely and protectively before we were swept away to the back stage area. There were dozens of people running around with clip boards and headsets; there was a lot of black too. I guess it made sense since it was the Black Parade.
“Oh my god Gee, this is incredible.” I gasped looking around ferociously.
Gerard just giggled and kissed my cheek pulling me into his and the guy’s dressing room. All the guys were jumping around, Frank was doing jumping jacks, Bob – who I was just now meeting-was running in place, and Mikey was sitting on the beat up brown couch texting on his sidekick.
“It’s normal to us. We don’t really notice anymore.” He stated completely un-phased by the fact that thousands of people were anticipating their arrival on stage. I just giggled to myself
After about an hour they were whisked away to the stage to preform, but not before lining up and high-fiving everyone in their crew and one another. They ran onto stage and I stood on the side with a perfect view.
The guys were so energetic and sadistic. It was everything I had ever dreamed it would be and more. To sum it up, it was the best night of my life. My eyes were completely glued to the stage flickering between Mikey, Frank, who was jumping on bobs drum set, and Ray, who was happily head banging along to the beat. Gerard though, he was amazing to watch. His eyes had this light to them, and a part of him came alive that wasn’t there off stage. It was the most amazing concert I’d ever been to.
After the guys got off stage, they were handed towels and bottles of water, Ray got a beer. They dried off and we all walked back to the tour bus.
“So, what did you think of your first My Chem concert?” Mikey asked, pushing his glassed up the bridge of his nose.
“I’m speechless. It was just, just, perfect!” I exclaimed excitedly.
They all laughed at me and asked me to stay the night, considering it was 3 in the morning after we finished hanging out. They asked me to stay for the next week, actually.
This should be interesting.
