Everett glanced around the corner. He squinted in the darkness, recognizing the silhouettes he was looking for. His plan, was to act like it was a fluke that he saw them, and then, them seeing that they have no choice, they would let him join. That is, of course, if they don't kill him first.
He heard laughing, and then sharp whispers. The clanging of the oil cans rang out, but was unheard by all, not in the group... except Everett. When they were quiet, he took a breath, and scraped his foot against the ground. He scrambled around the corner, and looked at them wide eyed.
"Woah!" He said, very loudly. "TCOWA! I've only heard stories about you!" Everyone froze, staring at him. They all looked behind them. A slender girl walked through hesitantly. She glared at him, pursing her lips.
"How... How did you find us?" She whispered quietly, almost just to herself. She twirled around to a boy behind her. He slunk under her gaze.
"I told you to scout the area, you Kura!" Her eyes were glazed in fury. She slowly turned to Everett. "
"How did you find us?" She circled him like a snake, ready to strike.
He didn't reply.
"Are you a Kura?" She spat.
"A what?" He turned around to face her. He pulled his hands out of his pockets.
She paused, pursing her lips again. "You don't know what a Kura is?"
He blinked his eyes, not moving. He tensed up. She started cackling. "You seriously don't know anything, do you?"
The sharp blade of a knife whipped around his head. Her grin made a thousand spiders crawl up his back. No one made a sound, all watching her. Everett took a deep breath, trying not to move. His muscles refused, and he began to shake. The sharp blade began to pierce through his skin. He was actually scared of dying.
"Don't!" Someone burst out of the group. Everett could hardly stifle a gasp. It was Rowan. "It was him!"
The knife held steady as her head whipped around. Everett gritted his teeth. It had to be Rowan. He gave them the code. He was the whole reason Everett was here. He was the reason Kaden wasn't.
He clenched his eyes shut, and wrung his hands out below him.
"Is was him, what?" She growled.
"He saved my life. He saved Kad-"
Everett's eyes widened.
"...That girl. Please don't kill him," He bit his lip, expecting the upmost anger and punishment. She just smiled.
"You ran into that building?" Her eyes lit up. The corners of her mouth were turned in an unsettling smile. She grabbed onto Everett's shirt and pulled his ear close to her mouth. "I don't know what you're up to, but I need more people like you. The stupid Kura's here are just pawns," She pulled him closer. "And you're gonna be the queen."

Everett leaned his head up against the wall. He bit his lip. Rage flowed through him like poison. Kaden almost died to save a rotten skunk, who started the whole thing. He rubbed his face with his hands, almost pressing hard enough to rip the skin off. He jerked up when he heard the gritty footsteps crunching the grass beneath. The moon lit up the boy's face. It was Rowan.
