Chapter two
"Ahh!" I Yawn sitting up straight and stretching my arms out, it's such a lovely day to be in a hospital... aha I'm joking. Its pouring cats and dogs outside. The sky was a sickly mix of gray and blue. I could hear the rain splash onto the rooftops of the hospital and concrete of the parking lot down below. I opened my eyes seeing my brother asleep on the ugly green loveseat near the window, and my mom and dad sleeping together on the windowsill. I sniffed, flopping my legs over the side of the bed and stood up, taking hold of the metal pole with wheels that held the pouch of water connected to my hand.
I walked out of the room, looking back to my parents and brother, who were sleeping soundly together. I turned my head and continued down the hall. Gurgle, Gurgle. My stomach growled loudly. I moved my hand to cover my stomach. I'm starving, what does a girl have to do to get some food in here. I walked towards the large green and blue nurses desk and looked over. I sighed, yes! There's a nurse. I saw the back of a guy nurse's head. His hair was dark brown that seemed to shiver in the light. His muscular body was fitted in loose fitted scrubs, and wore some white running shoes.
"Ahem, excuse me?" I asked tapping my knuckles against the desk lightly. "do you know when breakfast is coming?" I asked, feeling my stomach growl some more. The nurse turned around. I gasped, taking steps back, but tripping on the over sized gown they put me in. Tears burst in my eyes as I fell with the high metal pole still in my hand. It fell on top of me. Pain shot up my wrist when it crashed and fell on to it. Brandon...
I need to get away from him, he's gonna hurt me again, I closed my eyes, feeling something shift. The floor maybe? No it can't be. My head? Maybe. I heard the heavy footsteps fall, running towards me. "Miss! Miss! Are you alright? Miss!" the nurse yelled, I opened my eyes frantically, Brandon can't get near me, I gasped as I opened my eyes, feeling my heart lurch forward. I sighed. To my relief Brandon turned into a tall man with lines of worry sketched into his fore head. His eyes were a weird sort of cream color and his face was kind, sort of cute for a middle aged guy. I took deep short breaths, trying to calm myself down, How could I think that was Brandon... I'm just hallucinating. "Are you okay?" The nurse asked, taking my arm lightly and trying to help me up. "ah, ow." I whimpered, pain shot up my wrist and up my veins. The nurse's eyes widened, clearly shocked. "I think you broke your wrist, did you land on it or..." he began, but I cut in before he could babble on, "That pole thingy fell on me," I said a little breathless, I pushed the metal thing off me and stood up using my good hand for support.
I wonder what my parents will think of this dilemma. "Wait here," the nurse said rushing behind the desk and picking up the phone, punching in a few numbers before whispering some words into the mouth piece, giving me a few reassuring glances before hanging up and walking back towards me, "I'm going to walk you back to your room, and in an hour we'll get you to x-ray," he said pulling the IV needle out of my hand and slapping a good old ' cloth bandage over it. I sniffed in the pain as we walked towards my room. We left the ugly metal pole on the floor and went to my room. I sat on the bed and flipped my legs up onto the bed and under the covers. My brother woke up snorting, and falling off the couch and getting up in a flash setting himself in a weak karate pose. "Wha. What happen!" He yelled, waking my parents up from their comfortable sleep.
I opened my mouth to reply but the nurse began instead, "I don't know why but she freaked out and tripped, and fell, I think the IV pole broke something in her wrist so I'll be back to take her to X-ray in about an hour. Oh and ill bring breakfast for you right now, I heard your stomach from the desk," he laughed dryly and tucked me in my blankets tightly, lightly resting my wrist on top and handing me a remote. "Don't do anything," he said before leaving and closing the door.
Once he left my family rushed towards me and demanded an explanation. "Tell us," my dad repeated over and over, until I couldn't take it anymore, he's just so annoying. I told them what happened, and that I thought the nurse was Brandon and that I needed to get away. I watched as every single one of their faces fell emotionless, as if they put a mask on their face. I didn't know them anymore, their expressions were foreign and alien like. "Um, sweetie, maybe we should get you to a shrink," My mom said, fidgeting with her wedding ring.
"What no, no, no! I am not crazy! This just happened one time, it wont happen again, promise." I panicked jolting up in a sitting position and hurting my wrist some more. I sucked in a sharp breath. My whole family reached towards me, each mumbling something like are you okay, or something like that.
"Just consider it pumpkin, alright?" my mom urged, sitting down on the bed besides me. knock knock knock. Someone tapped on the door and opened it. A tall man in all black held a plastic tray of food in his hand, and a knife in the other, blood dripped down the tip of the knife, I saw the nurse laying lifelessly on the floor with a pool of blood surrounding him. I gasped covering my mouth with my good hand. Jason moved to the other side of the bed, ready for a fight. "Come out come out Baby, where ever you are," he said stepping out of the cover of the shadow... Brandon
