Chapter twelve -
Jeremy's POV
I moved my hand to my mouth huffing a deep breath and sniffing, okay my breath smells fine, I lifted my arm and sniffed my pit, okay I don't smell bad, I took out my phone and looked into the blacked out screen seeing my strong face, Okay my hair is fine. I sighed nervously, rubbing the sweat off my hands on my jeans, okay it's now or never, I blinked then knocked, once, twice, three times on the door, and waited folding my fingers together behind my back and tapped my foot. The door opened swiftly and Miranda stepped out wearing a nice printed shirt and skinny jeans with her hair curled and pulled half up. She wore the most casual clothes but made it look like it was custom made for her and her alone. "hey" she smiled, pulling the corner of her lips up, her eyes never leaving mine. "Hey," I said, pulling my arm up and bending it slightly, "Shall we?" I asked moving my eyes down to my arm, her eyes followed mine and her smile widened more,
"Alrighty, let's go" She said, hooking her arm onto mine, skipping down the steps of her front porch and sang "were of to see the wizard! The wonderful wizard of OZ!" at the top her lungs, giggling, I laughed and sang along with her until we reach the car and breathed for air. I opened the door for her and said, "My lady," still joking around, laughing, and formally bowing at her. She giggled some more, and slid onto the leather seat, clicked the seat beat on. I moved around the front of the car feeling her gaze on me and pulled open my door, hopping inside and tugged at my seat beat and pushed it into the little lock and turned the car on. Miranda smiled and opened the window, letting in some fresh air. I opened mine too before stepping on the pedal and pulled out of my parking spot in front of Miranda's house. I drove down the street watching Miranda in the corner of my eye. I stopped at a red light, looking at Miranda, "Off to star bucks we go," I said smiling and seeing the light flicker to green. I revved the car and felt the car rush forward. "Yup, even though star bucks is over priced," she said, I saw her face turn into a grimace, "there coffee is amazing though, I say its worth it." she continued and looked up at me. Sadly I couldn't meet her eyes. I kept my eyes on the yellow line that dragged on. The color and the speed of the line made my head ache and burr my eyes slightly. I saw the huge star bucks sign rapidly come closer. I pushed the hand up and the right turn signal clicked annoying. I looked both ways and turned into the parking lot and parked in front of the café. "Here we go," I said enthusiastically, Miranda gave me an awkward look, "did you mean that sarcastically?" she asked, grabbing her purse from the side of the seat and pulled on the handle, pushed the door open. Miranda gracefully slid out of the car and ran her hands down the front of her shirt, making sure it wasn't ruffled. I got out of the car and met her at the door. "Are you a fan of coffee?" I asked stupidly, she said yes to a coffee date. I blushed and opened the door silently. Damn I can't speak properly to girls. She laughed, "No I don't actually, even if I said yes to coffee, aha I prefer hot chocolate to be honest." she said, smiling. I walked besides her towards the line for coffee. "So you came here just for the fun of it," I asked, pulling my wallet out and smiled. I just got paid from work I have enough money for a dinner at Kelsey's. she laughed again, "well of course I thought being with you would be fun," she rested a soft light hand on my arm and smiled looking up at me with her big green eyes that were framed with thick eyelashes that drooped down, but made her even more gorgeous to look at. I smiled back. "Ahem, may I hep you," a short and stout women said with a heavy accent, awkwardly looking at us, I quickly gazed to the menu board, randomly choosing a vanilla latte.
I walked up to the lady, lightly tugging on Miranda' hand to follow. "Can we have a vanilla latte and a..." I stopped looking at Miranda. "What did you want?" I asked, tilting my head slightly. "A hot chocolate with whipped cream please" she said almost devilishly, biting her lower lip. I looked back at the older lady and smiled, she nodded and hurried to get our orders. I sighed and put my elbow on the ledge leaning on to it. "So I hear your in grade ten?" I asked casually, having nothing else to talk about, "Yup! And you just started collage?" she asked continuing the questioning. Buzzing of blenders and whipped cream pouring out of the nozzle droned on in the back ground. She smiled, and seen the two hot drinks slide onto the counter. Her grin widened as she grabbed her drink and kissed my check quickly before walking away, moving her hips slightly from side to side.
Miranda's POV
I sat down and let the sensations of tingling disappear as he walked towards me with a stunned expression, "What was that for," he asked keeping his hand at the cheek I kissed as he sat down. "It's a thank you for the hot choco," she smiled, holding the cup with both hands and taking a sip. Jeremy laughed, shaking his head and slouching back a little. My cheeks flushed. "What?" I asked alarmed, "you have a little..." he began before leaning over the table, "Here, you have a little whipped cream, well a lot over your lip and nose," he said before wiping my face with a clean napkin. I blushed even harder when he leaned back and still smiled at me crumpling the napkin and placing it on the table. I kept sipping the hot choco. Jeremy Began talking, his personality was like shining a bright sun on my cloudy day. We talked for hours laughing, laughing until tears flowed down my cheeks. This boy has a lot of weird stories.
The short lady that served us earlier stalked up towards our little booth. "Uh hi," the lady said interrupting Jeremy's story about him hanging his brothers boxers on the gnome that was planted outside. Jeremy and I both looked up at the lady, "I'm sorry but de café is close now," she said, her accent ringing in my ear. "Oh okay, Miranda, would u like me to drop you home now," he asked as the lady walked away and went inside a room that said employees only.
"of course, it's not like there's any other way to get home, so I'm stuck with you," I joked, and winked. I slid my jacket on and zipped the front up, "Come on," I said but Jeremy was up and smoothly snaking his arm around my waist. Instead of pulling away from him I let him walk me towards the passenger seat and watched me sit down. He slammed the door closed and hopped into the drivers seat. I pressed the big circle dial on the radio and let the music follow towards me. I leaned back and closed my eyes, "Tired?" Jeremy asked, catching a glimpse of me before looking back at the road. "Yeah, kinda, but I'm fine," I mumbled opening my eyes to look at him before closing my eyes again. Please don't let me fall again, but if I am, I kinda like it.
Brandon's POV
I sat down on the comfortable wooden porch swing, swinging back and forth, controlling the height with my feet. I looked up at the sky watching the sun fade into the horizon. A cool breeze hit my face fanning my sweaty cheeks. An unfamiliar black Honda civic pulled to the curb, the lights wavering off and the engine silently roaring off. A tall chiselled face with deep brown eyes came out of the car smiling and chuckling, jogging around the front of the car and pulled the passenger door open. My baby girl stood out laughing and smiling, clinging onto the boy's arm. Is that my baby? My baby! That can't be, she's not on a... a... date! Shook and hurt spread over my face, and took over my body, giving me short spasms. They walked up together, them looking up at each other. They hopped up the steps. Each step sent a loud boom echoing in my ears. The boy turned and stood in front of her scratching his head nervously, "Um, is it the time for me to give you a good night..." his gaze moved to connect with mine, "um, who's that," he said, and in a flash Miranda spun around, her hair flipping in the wind. She gasped and backed away. I stood up looking at her. I said too words that made her faint, "Hi baby,"
