Silence

A cold chill accompanied a brisk morning.

Dull blue hues peeked through the room, providing little light.

She shivered on the floor, cowering into a ball in an attempt to warm herself.

Shifting after many failed attempts, hands braced the floor as the cold body raised itself.

Hazily glancing around, (E/C) hues landing on pieces of white stone.

The stone cup from last night laid shattered, forgotten on the ground.

Bending down fatigued figures grasped the pieces as carefully as currently possible.

One unrestrained yawn tore through as the shards were tossed into the trash.

The entire house was dimely lit, in the pale winter blue matching the aura of the home.

Quiet, cold, isolated.

Pausing as her feet touched carpet, she wandered.

It was no surprise, her sleeping on the cold floor.

She often fell asleep where she was.

No attempt to sleep in a bed or use a blanket, that is, if she slept.

A bad habit.

However, she vaguely remembered being told to sleep.

Her feet dragged again as she starred at the floor.

No one cared to come see her.

To check and see if she was okay.

When someone did come... It was to remind her of her unwanted existence.

A thump and she braced herself against the wall.

Dragging her gaze upwards, she slowly climbed the steps.

Another yawn and she stumbled before regaining her footing.

'Was...I not talking to someone?'

A frown tugged on her face as she seated herself on the top of the steps.

"No one comes here, but I remember a conversation."

'Maybe it's a dream....yea....makes sense..'

Her head looked towards the ceiling.

"Makes...sense right?"

A harsh echo sounded through the walls.

The sound was foreign but not unknown.

It was the door.

A panicking shock traveled through her frame as she scrambled to get to her feet.

"....not...again."

Her whisper went unanswered, as she    moved quickly to her hiding spot.

Again the banging from the door traveled through the walls.

A mumbling sound and the sound came again.

She didn't move.

Hiding in a mahogany chest, in the back of one of the bedroom closest.

She was certainly safe, not once have they found her there.

'.... they're....not going to come in again are they...?'

A slam and the sound of the house alarm denied her wishes.

Again, she'll have to wait, until they were to frustrated to continue looking and leave.

"Hey, cut that thing off!"

" Shut up. There's no need. When they look to see what house it is, they'll dismiss it."

".. seriously? Oh!? It's off, wow they really don't care do they?"

"Don't know. They come to fix the door, late this afternoon. Anyways, let's just, find the damn girl."

"Right, right."

"...."

From the sound of clattering...and mumbling they both were down stairs.

Digging around....in her home.

She curled herself.

" They won't find me..."

"Tsk, looks like she broke something. Tha cluts."

"Whatever."

"Hey, where ya going?"

" Upstairs. There's a place nobody's checked yet."

"Really? You sure she's still even here?"

"Oh. I'm sure."

"I'm safe...they won't find me.."

"I'm coming too then. Haha this looks like a brand new house! Look at this floor!"

"Be quiet she'll hear us."

"Seriously dude. I think she took the back way out when we banged on the door."

"No. She's hear. Trust me."

"How ya know?"

Sucking in a breath she held it as the door to the room opened.

The footsteps drawing near the closet door.

'Don't come in. Please turn around...check something else....'

"She's too afraid to go outside."

The thumping against her chest only quickened when the door creaked opened.

'I'm scared... they'll find me....he knows I'm in here.....what do I do....what do I do?!'

'I can't listen to this anymore.'

'....?!'

'Be quiet.'
