Okay, maybe this is a bad idea. Too fast, isn't it? Oh, crap. Do I still have time to ...
- Hana. – called my mother, barely giving me time to turn around before she enveloped me in her arms. – I missed you so much.
- We saw each other last week, mom. – I said chuckling, returning her embrace.
- But I always miss you. I still don't understand why you moved away from us.
- Mom ...
- Yes, your work. I know, I know. – she finished, holding my shoulders and smiling at me. – You look amazing.
- Thank you.
Suddenly, her gaze went past me, to the man standing beside me in a black suit. She seemed surprised for a moment, as if she couldn't believe her eyes. I know I felt exactly the same when I found Jungkook in my living room, waiting for me in the dark clothes.
If I thought he looked good in everyday clothes, I didn't know what to say about him wearing the dark smoking. We almost didn't leave my apartment because of it.
- Oh, who is this? – asked my mother, pulling me out of my reverie.
- Jungkook, this is my mom. Mom this is Jungkook, my ...
- Boyfriend. – finished the latter smiling, before I had time to second-guess the title of our relationship.
My mother's eyes widened slightly, but she soon recovered, smiling at the man who snuck a hand around my waist to keep me close. She eyed the movement, but didn't call us on it, simply saying it was a pleasure to meet him.
- Dear, Haneul is asking for you. – said my father, approaching us.
- Honey, come here. – urged my mom. – Hana brought her boyfriend.
At the words, my dad stopped, turning around slowly to look at the pair of us, suspicion written all over his face. He eyed Jungkook thoughtfully, analyzing every single thing about us together. Especially the arm around me.
My boyfriend for his part didn't even flinch, his easy smile carefully in place.
- A pleasure, sir. – he said, extending his hand to my father in greeting.
I watched warily as they shook hands, my mother almost jumping in glee in front of me. My father wasn't a tyrant, far from it. When you got into his graces, he was a total sweetheart. But I still remembered how he almost frightened Haneul's now-husband away when they met.
- Baby, why don't you come with me and let the men talk. – suggested my mother, lacing her fingers on mine and trying to take me with her.
- Uhm, I don't think that ...
- It's okay. – Jungkook whispered in my ear, discreetly. – I'll be fine. – for my parents to hear, he completed. – I'll find you later.
I nodded, and without much of a choice, followed my mother among the sea of people until we reached my sister. She looked beautiful, all the craziness from the preparations certainly paying off. But it wasn't just her white dress that made her look like a princess, it was the look in her eyes. The happiness, the love.
As we approached her, Eunji came out of nowhere, joining me and looping her arm around mine.
- Haneul, you look beautiful. – I urged, hugging my sister as she smiled from ear to ear.
- Thank you. I have to admit, even if it goes against what I had chosen, so do you. – she said, reminding us of the dress argument.
We smiled at each other as she used her fingers to push back a strand of my hair. Classic Haneul. Everything had to be perfect.
