The day carried through as the sun started to fade from the sky.
Addison sat on a couch in the Stone's Home, trying not to fall into the cushioned surface that beckoned her to collapse into. she was slightly tired from the day that had been so memorable.
before she and her siblings came to the Stones home, they had meandered through parks, and walked all over in the small city that was filled with cars, people, music, star bucks, and long talks.
as Addison Played the events of the day in her head, a specific memory made her heartbeat increase.
a smile started to form as she remembered the memory so vividly. the spark that started to burn into a quiet flame.
her smile widened.
"hey Addison! wanna try some rainbows?" a small redheaded girl asked as she approached Addison.
"hey Megan! rainbows huh?" Addison said as she questioned what was held in the Styrofoam cup. she took the cup from Megan and saw for what looked like orange juice.
"orange juice?" she asked with an arched eyebrow.
"no." Megan said drawing out the word. "rainbows! try it and it'll make more sense." she promised walking away to get herself a cup of the orange colored liquid.
Addison pulled the cup up to her lip and sampled the drink. it fizzed on her tongue from carbonation and tropical flavors filled her mouth. she sampled the drink again but taking a generous amount of the drink.
"I guess this could be rainbows." she said to herself sipping at her cup occasionally.
~~~~~
everyone was either seated at the table or on the couch with plates filled with Navajo tacos. spices and different smells filled the air.
Addison was standing next to the wall, debating whether to sit next to hunter or sit next to someone that would be in between them.
"hey." Michelle said approaching Addison.
Addison looked over and smiled. "hey." she responded as she dug her fork into her food.
"are you going to sit down?..." Michelle asked. Addison smiled at her plate, and her face got hotter.
"um, yeah maybe in a minute." she said trying to keep a straight face, but couldn't hide her smile that forced itself in place. her cheeks got hotter as she started to play with her food.
"are you going to sit next to hunter?" Michelle asked but with a quieter tone. Addison looked up at Michelle with a fake surprised expression hoping that her desire to sit next to him wasn't obvious. her face burning now. she shoved a fork full of food in her mouth before responding. Michelle smiled and arched an eyebrow at her.
"you know you want to."
Addison hid her face behind her hair as she swallowed.
"well... I mean... I do... but what if he thinks i'm weird?" she said glancing over at Hunter seated at the couch already. Michelle smiled and started pushing her towards the couch.
"Of course not! just go sit!"
Addison was sat on the couch next to hunter, her face reddening as he looked at her with a smile. for a minute she wasn't sure how to respond, she wasn't sure what to say. her heart rate increased, but she managed to smile back at him, then looked at her half empty plate of food. she toyed around with it till Hunter got up to throw away his plate. she smiled at him as he passed.
(why is my heart pounding so hard? we're just friends...) she thought, though she felt like she was lying to herself because deep down she knew she thought of him more then a friend.
when he returned she waited a few minutes before standing up and throwing her own plate away.
as she opened the lid to the trash can she smiled once again before tossing the plastic plate in.
(huh. pandas, bamboo, and ninjas.) she thought then tossed her plate into the plastic bag that was held in the giant meddle can. she walked back over to the couch and sat back till her back hit the wall of the couch. Hunter shortly sat against it beside her. she smiled again, but hid her expression under a blanket that Michelle had handed to her.
Hunter glanced at Addison in hopes she wouldn't notice, but she caught his glanced and turned to smile back.
the night was filled with conversation between Hunter and Addison, barely paying attention to the movie that was played on the screen in front of them. as the time ticked on the night was coming to an end.
soon the movie ended and the lights turned on filling the room with a brighter image of what was around them. people started to gather their things and say their goodbyes.
"I had a lot of fun." Addison said to everyone as she, Cole, and Maggie stood by the door. even though she knew she'd say goodbye once more to Michelle and Audrey because, Audrey was hers and Michelle's ride.
Audrey came up to Cole before they entered out the door way and embraced him in a hug, so then she could whisper something in his ear.
"thanks for today." she said quietly in his ear.
"you too." he whispered back to her tightening his grip slightly.
Addison walked over to Hunter to say goodbye.
"thanks for hanging out today. I had a lot a fun." she said smiling. his face reddened slightly and returned the smile.
"me too." he replied casually hoping she wouldn't notice the redness that colored his cheeks.
Audrey loosed her hug on cole and craned her neck towards hunter. "hunter, you should give her a hug." she whispered loudly pulling a smile on her face.
he glanced over at Addison unsure how she would react by the comment. But she simply shrugged and smiled at him. he smiled at the ground before embracing her in a quick hug. she squeezed him slightly before they released from that quick but memorable moment.
Addison, Hunter, Audrey, Cole, Michelle, and Maggie walked out the door and headed to a silver mini van. it's colors were darker from the evening night.
they piled in the vehicle as Addison and Hunter went to the back of the car. Addison's face burned slightly as he smiled at her again when she entered her seat. she returned the smile, and started up a conversation.
~~~~~
The car pulled in front of the Audrey's home, causing her to sigh quietly.
how could this amazing day be over to quickly?
they climbed out of the car, and the Stones walked them to their door way. everyone's thoughts were all the same, saddened of the day coming to an end.
"okay, now I'm going to walk you to your car." Cole said to Audrey. she laughed.
"we just walked you to your door."
But Cole smiled at her, and Addison and Him walked them back to the car.
the process took longer then expected, but they repeated the pattern, making the day last longer.
door, car, door, car... over and over six times. till they sat on the front of the Old Grey mini-van and continued the conversation that was left off from earlier.
~~~~~
an hour passed, and now it was really time to say goodbye. Addison gave hunter another hug as they both whispered goodbye.
then Hugged Michelle, then Audrey.
"hey, thanks for coming. Hunter had a great time." Audrey whispered to her. Addison smiled deeply as she was reminded to earlier that day.
Audrey and Addison were walking to the car on their way to the Stones home when Audrey told Addison,
"Hunter is really excited to see you... he got all excited when I told him you were coming with Cole..."
Addison released and waved as they drove away into the Star filled night.
"Bye."
