Asano's P.O.V.

"Father, I'm home." I called out, setting my backpack on the table as I entered the kitchen.

I grabbed an apple from the bowl on the counter and headed to my room.

However, I was cut off so abruptly on the stairs that I almost toppled backwards.

"Ah!" I gasped, grabbing onto the banister and catching myself at the last minute. "Father!"

"You're late, Asano." He commented, eyeing me. His perpetual frown got deeper when he noticed my dirty clothes and disheveled hair. "What happened? Lose a battle with the ground?"

I glared and bit into my apple, looking at the stairs. "I just tripped."

He gave a disapproving snort and pushed past me.

I started back up to my room, but stopped and faced him. "Hey, father..."

"Yes?" He asked, not turning around.

I hesitated, suddenly questioning whether I should ask or not. "Today...after school, I...I thought I might have seen something, in the woods."

He let out a deep sigh and tilted his head back. "You thought you may have seen something, Asano. I swear, it's a mystery to me how you're at the top of of your classes. Now, either you did or you didn't see something, make up your mind."

"I did see it." I said, standing up straighter in defiance. "It was a monster."

He froze.

I suddenly changed my mind about wanting to tell him.

He turned to face me, ever so slowly.

"Asano," he said sweetly, his voice dripping with venom. "For the sake of me not being any more ashamed to have you as my son, I'm going to pretend you didn't say that. Don't ruin our family name by being so stupid."

I gripped the apple tight in my fist, shaking. "Father...I really believe something dangerous is-"

"Go to your room. And never speak of this again." He turned back around and stalked off. "Idiot child...if only his mother was still here..."

I marched up the stairs and slammed my door shut behind me.

Bzz!

I cracked one eye open at the sound of my phone receiving a message.

Bzz!

I sat up in bed, patting my hair from where it got messed up when I was laying down.

I picked up my phone and frowned when I saw two texts from an unknown number.

I tapped them and they loaded.

Hey Shuu, it's Karma. I stole your number when I grabbed your phone.

Text me back bitch.

I groaned. Of course.

What do you want, Akabane?

His reply was almost instant.

Why don't you ever call me Karma? ):

What do you want?

Bored.

Goodbye, Akabane.

Okay wait, I actually wanted to tell you something. I've been thinking about that monster in the woods. I think I've seen it somewhere before. I just can't remember where.
