It wasn't hard to guess where Fletch would be
"She's out of surgery" Sacha said entering Jac's office
Fletch choked back a sob "is she going to be alright?"
"You know I can't make any promises Fletch. But she's out of immediate danger. She's in ITU. Frieda can manage on Darwin without you. I'm going to look after Emma and your lot so all you need to do is concentrate on Jac ok?"
"Thanks Sacha"
Fletch made his way down to intensive care
He sat by her bed and once again took her hand in his
"This is going to have to stop Naylor. How many more times do I have to sit by your bedside wondering if you're going to live or die?" He choked back another sob "don't leave me Jac, not now"
His tears came freely now. His forehead was resting on her hand " I love you" he muttered
He decided to just chat to her not knowing if she could hear him. He rambled on about the ward, his dad, the kids.
"And Ms Naylor you are not spending another Christmas in a bed in this place. You were a pure nightmare patient last year"
He wasn't looking at her face and so he missed the faintest of smiles
"Do you ever shut up Fletcher "
"Jac" he said, his voice thick with emotion "you're awake, I'll get someone"
She nodded
When she'd been checked over he returned to her bedside
"Where's Emma?"
"Don't worry. Uncle Sacha is on hand" Fletch paused "he's got my lot as well" he said tentatively, mindful of Jac's worries about the kids getting close. He looked up at her trying to gauge her reaction and steel himself for the tirade that he was sure would follow "it was an emergency" he added quietly
"Fletch it's fine" she said taking his hand "the kids getting too close and then this going pear shaped were part of my stupid reasons for us not to be together but unless I dreamt it we are going to give 'us' a try aren't we?"
"Very definitely" he kissed her knuckles. He smiled "unless you're having second thoughts" he teased
"I'm afraid you're stuck with me now Fletch"
