I closed my laptop, exhaling air through my mouth. I leaned against my chair and looked around the dark and empty room. Someone knocked, I turned around slowly. "Sir, it's time to head home." A co-worker said. I nodded, "alrighty." I stood up from my chair and took all my things.
I left my office and proceeded to the busy elevator. It was around 5pm which was the start of rush hour. It's when school and work ends throughout Korea.
I get a slight headache so I decide to head back to my office and sit there for a while. "Where are you off to, mr Shin?" Someone asked. "I'm gonna wait for the elevator to be empty." I respond and started walking towards my office. "Do you want to come with us for some dinner?" She asked slowly.
I stopped my steps and turned around, "I don't want to seem like a problem." They shook their heads, "no, no, no. We don't mind it at all. We'd actually prefer you to come with us. Right, Jisa?" A girl beside her slaps her arm before looking away.
I stayed silent for a second, "sure." I made my way towards them. Normally I don't really accept these things because, y'know. We decided to wait for the elevator to get empty which only took a few minutes.
We made our way inside and there were three of them. All females. Not gonna lie, I only know one of them.
The metal doors open and we leave the room. We made our way towards the bus station and went inside a bus when it arrived. The two started running towards a seat and started giggling loudly. While the girl in front of me glared at them.
I made my way towards empty seats, "you first." I said and gestured to the seat beside the window. The girl quickly nodded and walked towards the seat while I sat beside her.
"I'm not quite sure if we've introduced each other before." I said and somehow, it looked like I startled her. "I'm Shin Wonho." I said and held out my hand for her to shake.
She stayed silent for a while and took my hand, shaking it gently. "Lee Jisa." We both let go of each other and it went silent. "Am I doing something funny that's making your friends laugh?" I asked. Her eyes widened and shook her head immediately. "Its nothing too serious. They're just.. in a good mood I guess." She looked away.
"Hmm.." I started observing my surroundings.
-We arrive at this Korean BBQ place. It was actually pretty busy. "We reserved a table." The waitress nodded and led us to an empty table. We settled in and looked at the menu. "What would you like, Wonho?" Kirt asked. "I'm good with anything. You ladies choose." I said.
They started ordering meats and a few other things while I was busy looking around the area. It was a strange habit of mine. I always observe the location I'm at.
Without realizing, the raw meats arrive and the side dishes. They start cooking it. "So Wonho, tell us all about yourself. I just realized that we don't know much about you." Kirt says with a smile as she hands everyone cooked meat.
"My life isn't that interesting. I'd rather hear about yours, ladies." I said. The three of them started to giggle to themselves. "Jisa has a lot of stories." Kirt sends Jisa a wink as she sipped on her drink. Jisa slammed her hands against the table, "SHUT UP!"
The whole restaurant went silent. Her face dropped and started looking around her, embarrassed written all over her face. She turned to me with teary eyes before excusing herself to the bathroom.
"Okay, I don't know what's going on, but can you please explain?" I looked at her two friends left at the table with me. They looked at each other and showed defeat.
"We thought it would be a great idea to invite you to dinner because Jisa has been I don't know, acting strange around you and we later found out she likes you." She explained. I looked around, noticing the thick air. "If this is all because of me then I'm gonna have to excuse myself." I slowly stood up from my seat and took my coat.
"Wait, no. Don't leave." Kirt said. I shook my head and started walking away slowly.
"I'll pay for the meal, please enjoy. I'm sorry for the trouble." I said and walked towards the manager and payed for the meal and left.
-I entered my apartment and heaved a deep breath. I always found it weird when people say that they like me when they know nothing about me. Makes me wonder if it's because of my appearance.
Is this how closed minded the world is now?
I turned the TV on and sat there on my couch, checking to see any news happening. There wasn't any news happening at the moment. I went towards the kitchen and took out some leftovers from a couple of nights ago.
