Ch. 3 Part 1 Charlotte’s POV
The smell of delicious meat was making me beyond hungry. I looked around my house and smiled, I liked the people who were here. They were actual real people. I grabbed my beer and squeezed through the people to get outback. My garden outback took me years to perfect but I was so happy with it now. It was all in bloom since summer had just started and the table on the back with the umbrella was crowded with food and people chatting.
We had ended up inviting ten people so all fourteen of us were comfortably having conversations and cracking jokes. Everyone had a beer or a glass of wine in hand and a small plate of food as well. I made my way to the grill where Kyle was cooking. I smiled at him as he wiped a hand across his forehead pushing some of his brown hair out of the way. He was grilling chicken, carne asada, salmon, corn, and some other veggies. He was a busy man. I leaned against the wall beside the large grill and Kyle smiled at me, his white teeth dazzling and his blue eyes brighter than usual.
“Hey Lover.” He said casually and I raised an eyebrow at the pet name. He smiled at me winking and I felt my heart stumble.
I had always found Kyle attractive, I just never thought he found me attractive, and I felt beautiful with the way he looked at me and touched me. I knew I wasn’t unattractive before, but having a guy touch you with soft fingers and eyes caress you in a manner that wasn’t greasy felt good.
“Hey you. Do you need anything? Beer? Plates?” I asked him and Kyle pursed his lips as he thought.
“You know what. Yeah, can you bring me a plate or platter for the chicken, and then one for the asparagus and corn?” he asked me and I nodded my head.
“Sure. I’ll be right back.” I said and he grabbed my hand before I left and I looked up at him wondering what was up. He pressed his lips against mine for a kiss and I kissed him back. There were some whistles and clapping and I quickly broke the kiss blushing and Kyle was biting his lip as he looked at me.
“Sorry, couldn’t help myself.” He whispered and I shrugged a shoulder.
“It’s fine.” I said and I blushed looking down before I turned around back into the house. My heart was still fluttering from that kiss. I saw Clarissa and I smiled at her and she winked at me.
“So whose your boyfriend?” she asked and I rolled my eyes.
“His name is Kyle.” I said and she did a little happy dance, “What is that for?” I asked her laughing and she just smiled at me.
“Oh you know! I’m so happy for you! My baby sis has got a hot boyfriend!” she said and I blushed grabbing the platters.
Clarissa was my older sister, by two years. The only people we really invited over where close friends and family. So my sister her fiancé Harry, Harry’s best friend Liam who I know and am good friends with, then it was Liam’s girlfriend who I have only met briefly before, her name is Sandy. Maggie invited her siblings; her brother Louis and his twin sister Alyson, with them came Alyson’s husband Carlos and their little five year old boy Christian. Then Maggie and I invited two other of our close friends Mary and Casey. And that was our group.
Maggie was introducing Ryan to everyone and Ryan was a really nice guy, he was easy to talk to and funny as all get out so he was always comfortable. Kyle was the chef so he was talking to people here and there. Kyle was straight forward, he was a good conversationalist and was more serious than Ryan but got along with people like Liam who was a goofball. I took two platters out watching out for Christian who was zooming through the area with a small soccer ball. Carlos was playing with him along with Liam and Harry as the three of them conversed and played with the small boy.
