Chapter 13 Part 1 Charlotte’s POV
When I woke up it was to find myself strapped and tied to a chair. I was in a dark room with nothing else but the light in the ceiling and another chair across from me. I tried moving the chair but it was bolted to the cement floor. With that test I essentially gave up and cried. I couldn’t escape and I did not have the skills to even attempt to fight for my escape.
My most recent memories of Kyle were scaring me and it seemed to be the only thing in my mind. Watching as the giant man sat on Kyle’s arms and legs holding him down as he pulled his head up by his hair and smashed his head against the tile. Hearing Kyle scream as the tile broke under his head and cut him. Hearing the sound of blood as his head was slammed against the floor until he passed out, his eyes on me as I was struggling against the woman who held chloroform against my nose and mouth.
These were the only thoughts in my mind as I sat in this dank room. My body ached and my mind was in despair. I turned my head to wipe my nose on my shoulder and I took deep breaths and concentrated on staying strong. I need to figure out where I am, why I am here, who took me, and how to get away. It seemed like my thoughts were answered sooner than expected as the door to this cell opened and in walked a couple. A couple that I recognized.
“What’s happening here?” I asked calmly and the thick man sat down in the chair across from me with a sigh, “Who are you two really?”
“Don’t feel so betrayed now, you look so sad Charlotte.” The woman commented, she had given me the nick-name Mati before, but only the heavens knew if that was actually her name. The Eastern European couple that I had met from Comic-Con, the couple that had been so nice and a comfort for me to talk to while the Gods meandered about the convention hall and drove me crazy with their stunts.
“We simply need the information that you have about the aliens you were with in San Diego and in Vegas.” The man said roughly, his accent more noticeable now.
“What are you talking about?” Did they want to know about the Greeks?
“Those people who you are constantly with, they have no fingerprints, no evidence of being human, they disappear from thin air, they do not know the answers to simple questions about being human. They are not of this world. We know this and we know you know this. Let us make this simple and you tell us what we need to know.” I decided not to respond, and this seemed to be a bad idea as the woman hit me across the face splitting my lip open in the process. I didn’t make a sound but I couldn’t help the tears that came from the corners of my eyes.
I watched as the monster of a man stood up and stretched his arms before taking a step towards me, he grabbed my chin with his hand and forced my head up to look in his eyes. I winced as pain spiked in my head and his fingers dug into my cheeks, “Punishment does come to those who do not listen Ms. Parker. You may want to keep in mind that we have been following you closely for the past several weeks, and we know who you hold close in your heart. We won’t hesitate to use them against you if you choose to be uncooperative.” He spoke clearly and there wasn’t the slightest trace of an accent. I knew nothing about them and yet they seemed to know everything about me. I again did nothing and he released my face with a jerk.
He spoke in that harsh language to the woman who nodded her head, and they both turned towards the door. The man paused to look back at me before he left and shut the door tight behind him. My heart was racing in my chest and I gulped for air as I tried to calm my shaking body. I don’t know how long I was paralyzed with fear, tears falling down my face, before I shaped up and calmed down.
