Sakura awoke from her sleep, staring up at the dark ceiling. Not that she needed sleep, she was a zombie after all. She still didn't know how she became one. She'd seen zombie movies before, but that still didn't explain much.
She sat up from her futon laid out on the floor, eyes beginning to adjust to the dark. Sakura quietly got up, wanting to go outside to get some fresh air.
Upon entering the dark hallway, she made her way to the front porch of the mansion. The moonlight shown through a large window at the back end of the hallway, casting its dull rays on the carpeted floor. The mansion was further away from the rest of Saga Prefecture, giving it an isolated feel. The fancy looking furniture and wallpaper, which was probably outdated, gave it an older feel as well.
Sakura ran her hand along the wooden railing of the stairs to the first floor, feeling the old grain of the wood under her fingertips. An occasional floorboard creaking under her foot. Though she was dead, her nerves and senses still functioned.
She got to the front door, turning the knob and opening the door, the hinges squeaking slightly. Sakura stepped out onto the large front porch, greeted by the fresh night air, and by someone else.
At the far end of the porch she spotted Saki leaning against the railing and looking up at the sky, her dull red, and undead eyes seemingly searching the stars for something. The former biker gang member turned her head at the sound of the front door opening, seeing Sakura standing on the porch. She stayed quiet, turning her gaze back forward, yet she still acknowledged the girl.
"Saki, what are you doing out here?" Sakura asked, approaching the biker girl, standing next to her, putting her hands up on the railing.
"I could ask you the same thing, you know." Saki answered simply, staring up at the sky.
The two sat in silence, a bit of tension hanging in the air. Sakura wasn't quite sure what to say next, she hadn't known Saki for long so she was never really sure what she was thinking, or how she felt. If she was being honest, the biker girl intimidated her, though her death threats were usually pretty empty, the way she presented herself was rugged and powerful.
"Hey Saki..?" Sakura started, looking up at the stars with her.
"What."
"Do you ever think about how we exactly got here? You know, as zombies?"
"Yeah, but that stupid director guy won't say much."
"Right.. but how do you feel about it all? Do you remember anything from when you were alive?"
It went quiet and Saki thought to herself. She turned around and leaned her back against the railing, shoving her hands in the pockets of her oversized letter man jacket.
"Not much," Saki scoffed, a bit of frustration showing through her voice. "All I remember was my gang back then. When we'd ride out during the night on our bikes, feelin' the wind in my face, man, that was a good time." she smirked to herself, thinking back to the fuzzy memories of her gang in the 1990's.
Sakura couldn't help but smile as well. There was something a little heartwarming about it. She herself couldn't remember much when she was alive, aside from what their idol director told her, she'd been hit by a truck and died.
"What about you?" Saki asked, looking over at Sakura.
"W-What? Me?!" Sakura stuttered, not expecting Saki to ask her the same question. She was taken aback by it and wasn't exactly sure how to answer.
"Who else am I talkin' about?" Saki rolled her eyes, waiting for the other girl to answer.
"W-Well... I don't exactly remember much, to be honest..." Sakura answered truthfully, finding it hard to remember anything but when she woke up for the first time in the mansion they were in.
"Maybe you will someday, and the rest of us too." Saki mused, referring to the rest of the girls they were with.
"Yeah, hopefully..." Sakura muttered, looking down at her feet. She wasn't sure if it would be a good thing or a bad thing if they ended up with their old memories back. Whatever happened though, she was enjoying her current time with the rest of the girls. There was something about it all that she couldn't describe the feeling of, but she liked it.
Out of nowhere, Saki threw her arm around Sakura's shoulder, pulling her into a loose headlock, "You're pretty cool, ya know that?" she said, laughing a bit, her characteristic dorky grin coming to her face.
Sakura was startled for a bit but she eventually relaxed, laughing a bit with her. There was a softer side to Saki that Sakura didn't know quite about until just now. She was glad that the biker girl was more laid back than she presented herself to be.
Perhaps she could become good friend with the other girls here.
