Having ventured further into the school than just the dance studio, Jordyn had discovered a room than may, very nearly, meet her love for the dance studio. However, this time, she was almost adamant that she shouldn't have been in there without permission.
The class room, was almost empty of anything but instruments, apart from a few chairs that were placed on rises at the far side of the room. There was an assortment of musical instruments lining the walls, causing Jordyn to have the desire to move into the classroom in order to play each of them before she graduated.
However, there was on instrument that caught her attention above the others. Directly in the centre of the room was a grand piano, that caused Jordyn to become blind to the guitars and drums that had earlier seemed magnificent. After almost two years of being void of any musical release, seeing the piano was almost too much. It would have been had she not had sat at the stool and rolled her sleeves up to her elbows.
Sitting at the piano, Jordyn stared at the ivory for what felt like hours. She wanted to play, but her mind wouldn't let her fingers press the notes. The pressure was too heavy and she thought that she would snap her bones.
Closing her eyes, Jordyn began to play one of the many peices she had memories without sheet music.
Father, father, tell me where have you been?
It's been hell not having you here
I've been missing you so bad
And you don't seem to care
When I go to sleep at night, you're not there
When I go to sleep at night, do you care?
Do you even miss us?
Your bottles, your mistress
I need to know, I need to know
Why are you walking away?
Was it something I did?
Did I make a mistake?
'Cause I'm trying to deal with the pain
I don't understand this
Is this how it ends?
I will try to understand
Father, father, father
Father, father, tell me where are you now?
It's been hell not having you
Last thing I heard, you were fed up, you're skipping town
With no note telling where
When I go to sleep at night, you're not there
When I go to sleep at night, do you care?
I need to know, I need to know
Why are you walking away?
Was it something I did?
Did I make a mistake?
'Cause I'm trying to deal with the pain
I don't understand this
Is this how it ends?
Why are you running away?
I don't understand this
Is this how it ends?
Why are you running away?
Tell me please, tell me please
I need to know
Is this what you call a family?
Is this what you call a family?
Is this what you call a family?
Is this what you call a family?
Spent seven years wishing that you'd drop the line
But I carry the thought along with you in my mind
But is this what you call a family?
Is this what you call a family?
Family!
Is this what you call a family?By the end of the piece, Jordyn found herself over come with tears. The bands that Jordyn listened to were always her safe haven. They taught and reminded her that she wasn't alone in her struggling.
However, it wasn't until she had played that song again that she realised how much it meant to her, and how much her father had hurt her. After being released from the hospital, she thought that she could put it all behind her and move on with her life, but for Jordyn that wasn't an option.
For as long as it took her to heal physically, it was going to take a great deal longer for her to heal emotionally. Perhaps she would never fully heal, she would just learn how to adapt her life to the side effects of her torment. For the first time in a while, Jordyn was content with that fact.
Before Jordyn could wipe the tears from her cheeks, there was a series of footsteps nearing the door of the classroom. Part of her was glad that they hadn't been moments before when she was singing, but the other hoped that they would stop and grow quieter again. The idea of anyone seeing her in the state she was caused her heart to quicken.
As the girl was about to stand up and walk out of the second door, a voice called out, "Jordyn? Are you okay?"
Looking up and seeing Will stood with a concerned look on his face, Jordyn shook her head before collapsing onto the stool once more, tears beginning to violently leave her eyes. Not knowing exactly what to do, Will crossed the room to sit next to her.
Pulling her into a hug, he let her expell her tears. All the time that he was there, he wondered what had caused the sudden out burst.
