a month later....
"Ok mama I know I know." Nyla cooed to a crying Kinlei as she bounced her softly standing in Kinlei's baby room. Nyla's shape was slowly but surely coming back as she stood in an ankle length baby blue bandeau dress. Her natural hair was flowing freely.
It had been a month since giving birth and like everyone told her motherhood was not easy at all. Especially when your fiancé was always working nowadays. The only time Nyla could get to the boutique was if she took her child with her which was something she didn't want to do at all. All the constant "can I hold her?" didn't work for her. She was a first time mom so she always politely said no.
She was so damn lucky she had her own shit and was her own boss. Yeah she was still technically supposed to be resting for the next few months but she was hardheaded and did what she wanted to.
Kinlei looked so much like Tatum and only had a few hints of Nyla. She laid in the folds of her mommy's arms dressed in a off white crochet outfit with the matching hair bow. She looked so cute even while her mouth was wide open and tears spilled down her face.
Minutes later, there was a knock on the door causing Nyla's head to snap towards her clock which read 10:15AM. It could be any damn body that the couple were friends with. She smoothed over her dress and slipped her small feet into Tay's Gucci slides that happened to be by the door. She covered up a now sleeping Kinlei and laid her in her downstairs bassinet while she went to the door.
"Hey. Is it a bad time?" Monty asked as he slipped into the door.
"Nigga if it was yo ass in here now." She laughed as they shared a hug.
"Where's my niece at?"
"Sleeping finally. She's been crying since 7."
"You look bout tired as hell." Monty said to his best friend as he took a seat on the chair.
"I am but hey motherhood isn't easy. Kay always told me that. Van too but you guys were there to help them." She said with a shoulder shrug.
"Where that nigga Tay at?" He asked.
"At the shop."
"What? He still went in to the work? Yeah it's been a month but daaaamn imma have to swing by and talk to his ass."
Though his son wasn't his biologically, that was still his son. He was there for the birth of it all and there was no damn way Kay would even let his ass leave a month after birth. She would nag about needing help and that's something Monty understood. He passed all business over to Ollie and only stepped in when needed be.
"I know. It's crazy right? I'm not sure if he's scared or what." Nyla admitted.
She knew without a doubt Tatum was over the moon when he first found out Nyla was pregnant but now that Kin was here he was acting a little differently. He held her but Nyla could tell he was full of fear. Yeah he spoke a good game in the hospital but Nyla knew that somehow emotions from his childhood maybe got the best of him.
He was a good man but shit changed heavily since after she gave birth. She was hoping it was just inside her damn head and she wasn't overthinking.
