Chapter 6

Raven's eyes opened and her ears twitched to hear the sound of birds chirping and to see frost dripping from the plants and sun beating right on their temporary den. She gazed around the den to see her packmates still in a slumber. Dawn hunting patrols, she remembered. She now had a big job as an alpha female. She got up and circled around her nest, then her paws padded her over to Snowy's nest. He's alpha male, so he has to be second awake then if I was first.
"Snowy!" she whispered urgently.
"Yes?" Snowy's eyes opened halfway but then he lifted his head up and acknowledged her respectfully.
"Dawn hunting patrols!" Raven nudged Snowy gently.
At the sound of that, Raven's other packmates stirred and stretched.
"Good morning." Raven greeted every wolf with her.
"Hey, so, what are the plans for today?" Lupo asked.
"Well we are leaving to go to our new territory. First we need dawn hunting patrols." Raven searched her small crowd of packmates. "Katie, Fenix, and Flower." she barked.
Snowy nodded with agreement and padded over beside Frostcrow and Lupo as Goldenglow got his medicine ready for a long trip. The three she-wolves walked out of the den and into the pine woodland. Maybe if I go alone, I'll be able to find those BreezeClan cats again! They know this area a lot better than my pack and I does.
"I'm going to hunt by myself." Raven told the four he-wolves and Twinkle in the den.
"You want me to come with you?" Snowy offered.
"Nah it's all good. Thanks for the offer." She smiled at him but then padded out the same way as where she went yesterday.

Raven felt the mossy ground under her paws. The old traces of WolfFang and Leafbreeze were stale in the cold air. Raven's nostrils flared curiously as she sniffed the bush. A hissing sound from a mysterious cat that Raven hasn't scented before came close to her. She turned around to see a flame colored tabby tom with a gray tail tip and the tips of his ears, and his eyes were yellow like WolfFang's.
"Hello?" Raven murmured.
"What are you doing here?!" the tom meowed.
"I'm not here to hurt you." Raven barked, "I was just looking for WolfFang and Leafbreeze."
"My parents?" The tom's pupils got larger and his tail flicked right and left.
"They are your parents?!" she gasped.
"Yes, why do you need them?" The tom dug his claws into the soil of the mossy ground.
Wow, this kit really has the personality of Leafbreeze.
"I met them yesterday, and my family, mate, and I are leaving for our new territory for my new pack SkullPack. We need to know around these areas a bit better." Raven barked.
"I see. I'll get them for you. I'm Firedash by the way, and you?" He flicked his tail in acknowledgment to Raven's shoulder.
"Raven." she responded.
Firedash nodded and scurried off through the bush and to BreezeClan territory.

Raven was pawing at an acorn as Firedash's scent came back as well as WolfFang's and Leafbreeze's.
"Hey!" Raven greeted, looking up into their eyes.
"Hello, Firedash told us that you needed to know this area of the forest a bit better?" WolfFang questioned.
"Yes that's correct." Raven sat down.
"Well, where are you heading to first off?" WolfFang eyed around.
"My packmates and I are heading to the cliff and into the lands after the cliff. I'm looking for a forest, river, and mountain territory. A perfect one." she admitted. "But it's okay if not because nothing is perfect."
"Hmmm..." WolfFang looked into a baby plant that had started sprouting but wilted from the cold weather. "I'm going to come with you on your journey and lead you to the perfect area." he meowed.
"What?!" Leafbreeze and Firedash hissed in unison.
"Calm down you both, Leafbreeze you are in charge of the clan while I am gone." WolfFang brushed noses with her and licked her flank.
"But, with a wolf?" Leafbreeze's fur bristled.
"She's completely trustworthy." He brushed his tail in a reassuring way along her pelt.
"Well, okay..." Leafbreeze mewed, nodding.
Firedash groaned as he jumped into the bush and pelted to BreezeClan territory.
Leafbreeze followed after she said another goodbye to WolfFang.
"I'll be back soon." he mewed.

WolfFang stood next to Raven.
"So where are your packmates right now?" he asked.
"Follow me." Raven led WolfFang to the temporary den on the rocky path.
"This is it?" WolfFang sniffed curiously at a leaf hanging out of the den.
"Who is this?" Katie leaped out of the den and crouched, snarling.
"Don't worry everyone! He's here to help us find our way around." Raven woofed.
"Oh I see." Katie had an apologetic gaze and backed away.
"His name is WolfFang." Raven's tail tapped his back.
"Are we heading out now?" Frostcrow asked.
"Raven didn't eat yet!" Snowy barked loudly.
Snowy nudged over a piglet and watched as Raven leaned forward and ate it.
"Thanks!" She licked his head. "We can go now." Raven padded forward with Snowy at one side and WolfFang at the other.

Under her paws, Raven noticed the stones were building up and becoming firmer like a mountain. We're very close to the cliff, she thought. She turned to look behind at her other packmates, Katie was limping as in she was extremely injured and Fenix looked angered. How come I didn't notice that when I came back? She looked and acted fine. She leaped out of the den! Raven felt a wave of worry and soon enough, Katie fell on her side with her eyes shut tightly and Fenix growled and sprinted off. What?!
"Everyone! Stop walking!" Raven howled.
"Huh?" they all muttered in unison.
Raven glanced at Katie and revealed her, Katie's white pelt looked stained with drying blood and new blood pouring out of an open wound. Raven's packmates and WolfFang gasped.
"Fenix is also gone, she looked angered, and she didn't give us a reason why, she sprinted off! Can one of you try finding her?" Raven padded over to Katie and sat beside her with Goldenglow rushing over. "I'm worried about my sister." she whimpered with sickness and stress crawling into her bark. This can't be happening. Raven started crying. I can't lose someone else, I almost lost Huntress. Goldenglow quieted Raven's cries down and got his accessories ready.

"I'll look for Fenix." Frostcrow finally woofed.
"What?!" Twinkle looked at her brother as if he were crazy. "I wasn't expecting you to volunteer, plus I can't lose you!"
"You won't lose me, even if you do, I'll always be in here." Frostcrow touched Twinkle's chest with his paw where her heart was.
Raven ran up to Frostcrow and nuzzled him. "I'll miss you too.."
"I'll be back, I'll be able to find you guys. HeavenPack will lead me."
"What are you saying? That you're going to die?" Lupo whimpered.
"No no, they'll lead me to the territory." Frostcrow reassured in a quieter voice. "Fenix is family, she's my cousin, I'll be glad to look for her." Frostcrow licked his family goodbye and sprinted in Fenix's direction, following her scent.
