Chapter 9

The sun from the dawn sky lit the cave an orangey yellow.
Raven stirred from her nest and her ears twitched to hear a high-pitched noise. It was coming from Lupo.
Weird.. she thought.
She got up and padded over to Snowy's nest, pawing at his pelt.
"Huh?" Snowy opened his eyes and lifted his head, looking into her eyes.
"Good morning, time for dawn hunting patrols, you can assign them." she barked.
Snowy shook his pelt, he arose from his nest and howled quietly.
Twinkle, Luke, Goldenglow, Katie, Lupo, and WolfFang woke up and looked at Snowy with wonder.
"Dawn hunting patrols." Snowy woofed.
Lupo coughed and Raven glanced at him with worry.
"I'm fine, who's for the patrol?" he rasped.
"You are not fine!" Raven objected.
"I am so."
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"Yes."
"NO!"
Raven nuzzled her brother and laid him back down into his nest.
"Goldenglow, check him please." she commanded.
Goldenglow padded over and sat down next to him.
"We have a shortage of wolves..." Snowy's voice trailed off in anxiety.
"I can hunt." WolfFang mewed.
"So can I, I've completed training." Luke bursted in.
"I suppose, WolfFang, Luke, and Twinkle, off you go!" Snowy waved his tail at them as the three padded out of the cave and into a forest.
Lupo's breathing was shallow and high-pitched, Goldenglow pressed his paw to Lupo's flank, moving up to his chest to where his lungs were. A vibrating rattly feeling drilled itself into Goldenglow's pad.
"He's wheezing." he woofed.
Goldenglow ran to his medication accessory pile, getting a wood bowl, berries, a wood pot with hot water, rabbit meat, and a tiny wood piece with a hole that gets inserted into Lupo's mouth.
"What's that?" Lupo weakly asked.
"It should help cure your lung infection. Don't use your voice, it will hurt."
Lupo nodded in acknowledgment and pressed his head against a leafy pillow. Goldenglow mashed the berries in the bowl and added some cold water.
"Drink this." He nudged the bowl over carefully next to Lupo's muzzle.
Lupo leaned over and lapped up the berry juice, then with an irritated grunt, he curled up. Goldenglow picked up a stick and stirred the hot water, adding the rabbit's meat in.
"Also take this." Goldenglow pushed the wood piece into Lupo's mouth, giving him air and to help his lungs breathe better. "The rabbit soup is done." He picked up another wooden bowl and scooped up some soup, giving it to Lupo. He lapped up the soup and fell asleep with Goldenglow letting the steam from the hot water clear his congestion.

"We're back." Twinkle barked from the entrance of the cave.
"Quiet down, Lupo is sleeping, he needs to get better." Goldenglow snapped non aggressively in a whisper.
Raven watched Snowy pull over a pig and start feasting.
"Wanna share?" he offered.
"Yeah sure." Raven sat down next to Snowy and ate the pig with him.
They heard a rustle of leaves and saw Lupo stretch and get up.
"I feel better." he admitted.
"I knew I could cure you." Goldenglow smiled.
"Can we continue the journey now?"
"Yep!" Raven got up and started padding out of the cave.

WolfFang led Raven and her packmates into the forest, it was near a river, mountain, field, and other amazing nature areas.
"This is the perfect area that you wished for." WolfFang meowed.
"It is perfect..." Raven admired the breath taking territory.
"I will help you find your dens for your clan." He led them deeper into the forest, Raven saw many perfect areas for den arenas, one just stood out to be the most perfect. It had a pups den, healer wolf den, alpha den, and wolves den.
"We'll settle here." She turned to the perfect den arena, trotting over with the others following.
"I would've chose that place too." WolfFang agreed.
"Thank you so much WolfFang." Raven rested her head on the gray tom's neck, then backed away.
Snowy did the same, it was an alpha's respect and job.
"I must now return to my family and clan." WolfFang licked Raven and Snowy on the ears, then scurried off to the path to the cliff bridge.
