Sunaru's POV

The sweet aroma of the pastry drifted through the kitchen as I opened the lid to the oven and took out the puff-looking apple pies. A feeling of excitement conjured up in my chest as I felt myself anticipating the moment they would try these.

I loved everything to do with cooking but this passion of mine could not compare to the feelings I had for a certain white-haired vampire. Unfortunately, his...feelings seem to lie with someone else...Yui, my sister.

I wasn't jealous of her nor did I harbour any hatred for her. She was my precious sister and I was happy as long as she was happy. I did not know if she loved him back and selfishly, a part of me wished that she didn't.

"Hey Sunaru, are you finished?" asked Yui.
"Yeah, I just need to let them cool down."
"It smells so good in here. I can't wait to try them."
"*smiles* I hope you'll enjoy them."

We sat down by the kitchen counter as we waited for the pies to cool. The aroma of the sweet pastries seem to flow around the mansion as all six vampires were by the entrance, waiting for the baked goods.

"They're not ready yet. We'll tell you when they are."
"I didn't come here for the pies. I need a sample of your blood for the new potion I'm making," exclaimed Reiji.
"Tch, sample? In your dreams, tableware otaku. We're not gonna let you waste her blood for something as unimportant as that," Ayato argued.
"I'm afraid I have to agree with him," Laito added.
"Ne Teddy, I can't wait to try those apple pies. Do you think Sunaru'll let us have them all?" said Kanato.
"Ugh, it's getting too noisy," Shuu commented.
"Then why the hell did you come here in the first place?" Subaru asked.

Yui was suddenly grabbed by Reiji, forcefully taking her to his room. I immediately chased after them but was stopped by none other than Laito.

Fear filled my eyes. But not fear for myself...it was the fear of Yui getting hurt. I would never forgive him if he dared do anything to hurt her. Laito soon sunk his fangs into my neck, making me wince involuntarily at the sudden pain.

Without warning, he was pulled back by Subaru who had an angry frown on his face. I was left in shock as he threw the perverted vampire across the hall.

"She's mine," he said in a dangerously low tone.

*gulp* Normally, I would never be scared of him but now, I felt...afraid, afraid of what he'd do to me. But unlike all the frightening thoughts I had, he held out his hand.

"You want to help Yui, right?" he asked.

I couldn't help but stare at him in both surprise and admiration. I...loved him yet my heart was pained. He wanted to help my sister...he loved her.

I shook off my dark feelings and grabbed his hand, his cold one encasing my smaller one. We were soon teleported to Reiji's room, where he was about to inject a needle into her arm.

I immediately rushed past Subaru and grabbed Yui before pulling her away. I stood in front of her without backing away and glared at the angry vampire in front of me.

Despite my growing fear, I dared not to show this on the outside. If I did, he'd only use it against me. I could feel Yui disappearing behind me. Subaru must've teleported away with her.

Reiji's angered eyes followed me; watched me. I felt myself cower a little as he headed closer and closer, grabbing onto my arm with an inhuman grip.

"Let go of me, you blood-sucking monster!"
"I'm afraid you interrupted my experiment. You'll have to be my guinea pig for now."

I closed my eyes and waited for him to insert the large needle into my body but it never came. As afraid as I was, I slowly opened my eyes to peek at him.

Subaru had grabbed onto his arm, preventing Reiji from continuing. His gaze was frightening and angry as he stared at the vampire holding onto me.

"Reiji, let go of her," Subaru ordered.
"Why should I? She ruined my experiment. All that's left for her is punishment."

Subaru immediately dragged him away and pushed him up against the wall before punching his jaw. I shivered every time he got hit.

Soon enough, Subaru was coming towards me. We were teleported to his room before he pinned me against the wall. I tried to get out of his grasp but it was futile. He was a lot stronger than me.

"Don't...do that again..."

Huh? He...wasn't mad? I almost froze in shock as he leaned against me and put his face dangerously close to my neck. I stiffened, thinking that he would drink my blood but all he did was stay like this.

I could feel his shivering despite it not being that cold. Was he...scared? I reached out but thought better of it and retracted my hand. I wasn't quite sure what to make of this situation.

"You get into danger again and you'll actually end up needing a punishment," he exclaimed.
"I uh..."
"*blush* I-I was worried."

I looked at the slight blush on his cheeks and the way he shyly turned his head to the side before a large smile plastered itself onto my face.

"W-what are you smiling like that for?"
"You're cute."

He seemed baffled by my sudden statement. I could only laugh as he blushed even more. I gasped as he sunk his fangs into my wrist. The blood dripped onto the carpet as he continued to drink.

I could feel myself getting lightheaded and weak. He stopped and caught me just before I fell. Damn it...I shouldn't be this tired...

Subaru's POV

I put her on my bed just as she fell unconscious. Guilt ate at my heart as I pulled the blanket over her fragile body. Did I take too much blood?

A knock on the door distracted me from my thoughts. Yui came in with one of Sunaru's apple pies. She placed it on the table and smiled before leaving.

I hesitantly went to the table and took a small bite. My eyes widened in surprise. This was...delicious. I never knew Sunaru could bake so well since she usually just cooked our meals.

A small smile crept onto my face as I found myself eating more of the apple pie. It was sweet, just like her blood but its scent could never even be compared to the girl I had come to love so much.
