(Y/n)'s POV

Taking a deep breath, I hesitantly pushed the door open. The rest of my team had already arrived and were in the midst of a heated discussion. Like my instinctive assumptions, nobody noticed my late arrival nor bothered to greet a mere rookie journalist.

However, Satsuki did. She was our manager and chief, and had no sense of holding back when it came to unpunctual newbies who ruined things for the team.

Her sharp eyes motioned for me to go closer, which my body seemed to do of their own volition. The noise suddenly died down, leaving only the tick-tock of the clock acting as a medium to balance out the unbearable silence.

"(Y/n), you're late," she stated.
"I-I'm sorry, ma'am."
"Of course you should be! We have finally gotten permission to interview Kitakore and I specifically announced that we would be holding a meeting this morning."
"I...this won't happen again."
"It better not."
"Satsuki, don't scold her. I held her up, so blame me instead," Tomo exclaimed as he headed inside.

He winked at me as he walked past, casting a secretive smile my way. Satsuki seemed to freeze on the spot, the bravado fading, leaving only her nerves behind.

We all watched in expectancy as she subtly placed a hand on his arm, her expression already one of a woman in love. Tomo seemed to take no notice of her flirting, instead greeting her with a casual grin, which Satsuki undoubtedly misinterpreted.

Ryuji suddenly appeared beside me, a caramel-flavoured lollipop in his mouth. Watching the two converse like lifelong friends, I felt jealousy grip my heart in a tight grasp.

"They've got to be dating, right?" I heard a co-worker say.
"You're right. How could they not be?" replied another.
"Ignore them. He's not dating anyone," Ryuji exclaimed, loud enough for the others to hear.
"Excuse me? Even if you are an idol, we won't accept this sort of behaviour," they counterattacked.
"Oh? You're all reporters who'll grasp at straws to get your hands on a juicy story. How can you just assume that they're dating without hard evidence?" asked Ryuji.
"Just look at them. They've obviously in love."
"No, you're wrong. I wouldn't have accepted just any interview with any news company. Tomo only accepted because (Y/n) asked, not because of Satsuki."

Ryuji's eyes seem to reassure me despite the fact that this argument might as well cause damage to his reputation. After some thinking, I finally managed to smile and nodded firmly, confident in his belief.

Satsuki had incidentally slipped her hand into Tomo's. I felt pained at the sight yet his next action surprised not only me but the rest of the team as well.

He politely left his conversation with my boss, and walked towards me. I tilted my head in confusion as he smiled and held out a hand for me to take.

The look on Satsuki's face was one of rejection and anger yet I couldn't blame her. She had the face and body of a top model. Rejection was something she had no knowledge of.

"Satsuki, you don't mind if I take (Y/n) out, right? I'll let her interview me while we're out. You can ask Ryuji anything you want to know. He'll be more than happy to answer," Tomo exclaimed as he took my hand.
"Oi, don't just decide things on your own!" said Ryuji.
"B-but Tomo-kun, I..." Satsuki started.

I could only give Ryuji an apologetic look as I followed Tomo out of the conference room. Once I noticed how our hands were still together, I gently tried to pull away but his grip only tightened.

I risked a glance at his face but his expression gave nothing away. Once again, I stared at our hands, finding warmth from his gentle presence. Soon relaxing with his hand holding mine, I followed him out of the building.

We simply walked around the vicinity of my company's building, enjoying this peaceful silence, save for the melodious chirping of the birds in the trees.

Stopping near the side of the building, I stared up at the clear blue sky that had not a cloud in sight. Tomo waved his hand in front of my eyes, catching my attention in a split second.

"What were you thinking about?" he asked.
"N-nothing."
"Do you have someone you like?"
"...I do. What about you?"
"I do too."
"Is it Satsuki?"

I couldn't stop myself from blurting out the question yet he did not seem to suspect my intentions in the slightest. Mentally breathing a sigh of relief, I hesitantly waited for an answer.

"No, it's not. Why do you think that?" he asked.
"*laughs* That's what everyone thinks. You two act like the best of friends and look well-suited for each other so-"

He suddenly slammed his hands on the wall behind me, trapping me beneath his body as I stared at him in shock.

"(Y/n), why...why did you have to say that? I don't love her. I hate hearing those words..." he exclaimed quietly.
"Oh...I'm sorry..."
"Then make me believe that you are."

My eyes widened in surprise as he leaned down and kissed me. I couldn't move, my face a blushing mess and my heart pounding as fast as a galloping horse.

He leaned in deeper, his hands cupping my face as I shyly kissed back. I could feel him smile into the kiss before he pulled away, a soft laugh escaping his mouth.

"You're too cute," he commented.
"*blush* O-oi, how can you just say that after kissing me?!"
"*laughs* Okay, I'm sorry. Now do you still think that I like Satsuki?"
"Hmph...w-well..."
"(Y/n), I love you...so let me make it up to you, let me make you believe me."

I could only nod, seeing as how I was at a loss for words. His arms still trapped me between the wall and his tall body, making me look away from his intense gaze.

As I did so, he immediately lifted my chin up, his radiant blue eyes capturing my (e/c)-coloured gaze. A laugh escaped his lips as he looked at my flustered state.

I realised just what he had been doing and pushed his body away. Yet, before I had the chance to walk any further, he had his strong arms wrapped around me from behind. I could feel his hot breath as he whispered into my ear.

"Don't try to escape me. I won't let you go," he exclaimed in a low tone.

I couldn't help but giggle, finding his breathing in my ear quite ticklish.

"Why don't we go on a date?" he asked.
"What about the interview?"
"I'm pretty sure you already know everything there is to know about me."
"Hmm, I don't think I do."
"I'm sad. You're really putting work before me?"
"H-hey, it's nothing like that!"
"*laughs* I know, I'm only teasing you."
"...meanie."
