(Y/n)'s POV

An endless eternity, a never ending nightmare...nothing but an empty void. Trapped and alone, nothing to see and nothing to feel. Freedom was by no means an option.

I waited. How long had it been? A year? A decade? I could no longer tell, having given up long ago. To wish or even hope for a different fate was akin to finding a pin in a haystack.

Despite being kept in a church, all I felt was despair and longing for the outside world. Frozen in place, I couldn't do anything nor influence any kind of situation.

Frozen inside this crystal, I couldn't even cry tears of sorrow and loneliness. My heart ached terribly for I knew that I was a cursed girl. I did not belong here, I did not deserve to live.

If only I could catch a glimpse of another life but with my frozen body, I did not even feel hunger. All I had were my dark emotions to keep me company.

Hakuren's POV

I needed to find her...the girl my father had been searching for all his life. He had concluded that she was hidden somewhere in this church. It was then that I decided to become a bishop and carry out my father's wishes.

She held the key to saving this world. Teito had one part of it with him but the other remained with this frozen girl. *sigh* What was I even thinking? It was probably just a myth...

"Oi Hakuren, what are you spacing out for?" Teito asked.
"Huh? Oh, sorry. Something was just one my mind."
"Is it that girl again? We explored this church like a hundred times and still couldn't find her. Not even Frau and the others know. Are you sure she's real?"
"...I don't know anymore..."

He frowned, making me look away with guilt. This wasn't like me. They all helped yet, I was too focused on my own desires. With a sigh, I looked at Teito and smiled.

"Maybe she's not. Maybe I've just spent my time looking for something that's not really there. Thanks for helping though."
"Don't worry about it," he replied, grinning.
"Teito, Hakuren."

We turned around to see Castor coming towards us.

"I'm sorry, I've...kept it a secret until now," he exclaimed.
"What?"
"The girl, she exists and she's hidden in a deep underground building. It was concealed so that not even advanced soldiers could access it so it's no wonder you two couldn't."
"Why...are you telling us this?"
"Because you might be the one that can control her. Your conviction is proof of that. Follow me...but I must warn you, she's a dangerous being."

Teito and I looked at each other before hurrying after him. We walked past the buildings before entering a small corridor. Castor stopped, making us bump into him.

"Might I ask that you close your eyes?"

~When they arrive~

I couldn't believe it...she was beautiful, almost like an angel. I couldn't keep my eyes off her. She was too mesmerising, like a jewel amongst a pile of rocks.

Castor broke the crystal in which she was trapped, releasing her body from its hold. I quickly caught her before she hit the ground. The small rise and fall of her chest implied that she was indeed a living being.

"Be careful with her. I have other matters to tend to so I'll have to leave you for now," Castor exclaimed before walking away.
"Is she...?"

Teito didn't finish his sentence. The girl had woken up, her (e/c) eyes large and frightful. She immediately backed out of my arms and moved back.

"Hey-"
"D-don't come near me!"
"We're not going to hurt you."
"I'm not worried about that. M-my skin can create poisons and antidotes. Don't touch me. I-I can't control it!"

She backed up against the wall and shut her eyes as I headed closer to her body. She was trembling. I hesitantly reached out and gently grabbed her hand. Her skin was soft, almost too soft.

"You're okay."
"I can't-"
"You're not hurting me. Look. You can save people, that's why my father was looking for you. You can cure incurable diseases and heal wounds."
"T-that's..."
"Completely possible with your power, right?"
"Not without a master. I need to form a contract with someone who can withstand me."
"...what's your name?"
"(Y/n)...(L/n)."
"I'm Hakuren and that's Teito. We're going to help you."
"...will you become my master?"
"Well, I don't-"

Her eyes turned a dark, black colour as she leaned in. She bared her fangs and came uncomfortably close to my neck. *gulp* I closed my eyes, expecting some kind of pain but nothing happened.

"Someone's out there," she said, looking past me at the staircase that led to the outside.

I stood up but stumbled when a loud explosion shook the whole building.

"Hakuren, come on! Let's go!" Teito exclaimed urgently.

I held my hand out to (Y/n). She grabbed it and lifted herself up. We immediately ran towards the entrance, shielding our eyes from the sun's bright rays.

I squinted before my vision cleared. Teito clenched his fists, his glare focused on the man onboard the ship. His intimidating gaze sent chills down my spine.

Teito and I stood in front of (Y/n), feeling the need to protect her from this man who seemed to want to steal her away. Frau and the others had arrived at the scene but none of them spoke a word.

"What are you here for?" Teito asked angrily.
"Hand me that girl."
"Not in a million years, Ayanami!"

(Y/n) screamed, making all of us turn around. Another man had grabbed her. I reached out for her outstretched hand but only managed to touch her fingers.

The man returned to Ayanami's side with (Y/n) trapped within his grasp. Damn it! Why couldn't I sense him at all?!

Suddenly, a dark liquid oozed out of her skin, melting the metal she was standing on. Ayanami held her up, paying no mind to the poison burning his hand.

"Let's head back. We have the girl," he ordered.
"No!"

Teito and I were stopped by Frau. We struggled to get free but knew that it was futile to blindly chase after her. I slammed my fist into a pillar, angry that I had lost her straight after finding her.

"Hakuren, we'll get her back," Frau said.
"We have to...I have to get her back."
"Why are you so desperate? It's obvious that she cannot fall into the wrong hands...but why do you need her?" Labrador asked.

Because my father spent almost his entire life searching for her. Because she could help everyone and protect them if her full power awakened. Because...*sigh* I didn't know...
