"First of all, I want to apologize for how slowly the CCG reacted to your situation, (Y/N)." Haise guiltily said as he sat down at the table where you were all supposed to meet for the debriefing of the Dodgy Mother case.

"I'm alive, and that's what counts, no?" You answered in an attempt to cheer him up. It didn't quite work... It riled Shirazu up, though. So that's something.

"What are you saying?" Shirazu piped up. "You nearly died because of how incompetent the Shimoguchi squad was! They literally arrived ten minutes after you knocked Urie out!"

"Yes, but I'm alive, no? Let's stay in the present, shall we?" You sassed. Shirazu simply sat back and pouted like a child. You never thought you would have seen him do so, but it was incredibly entertaining to watch him glare at the table like it had insulted his whole family.

"Secondly," Haise said, eyeing both you and Urie. "I don't like how the two of you are always getting in trouble." He stated.

"Hey!" You sat up straight. "How am I the cause for the Dodgy Mother incident?! Roma cornered me, not the other way around!"

"First Urie interferes with finding and exterminating Him, then he gets expelled and you threaten the school's principal in order to have him stay. Now he throws himself in an extremely dangerous situation and nearly has the two of you killed because of it!" Haise then turned to Urie. "You're very lucky that the ghoul side effects aren't permanent, young man."

Hold up, how'd he know about the incident with Mrs. Suoh?! You know what? You weren't going to question it.

"Is this a debriefing session or a scolding session?" Shirazu sighed. "If it weren't for Urie, (Y/N) would be dead right now."

You never would thought you'd live to see the day where Ginshi helps Kuki out. Never.

"He's right." Holy shit, Kuki agrees. What is this? Wonderland?  "You can't demote me for doing the right thing and protecting a squad member that was in lethal danger."

Haise sighed and rubbed his temples. "You guys are going to be the death of me with all those 'it's for the sake of the squad' arguments... Do you know what we look like to the CCG? Arima told me the Washuus are debating on shutting down the project because I can't get you two to behave!" He then accusingly pointed at you and Urie. You would have faked outrage if it weren't for the seriousness of the situation.

"Just get us to face them." You shrugged. "I'll give them all the 'for the sake of the squad' excuses I have." That got a few laughs from your squad (minus Kuki and Haise). Thank goodness Sasaki was your mentor and not someone like Ui or Shimoguchi, because you would have gotten your ass beaten to death for what you just said. Hell, those people would have probably fired you by now.

You were suddenly hit by the truth that is how kind and patient Sassan is with you all.

Sasaki sighed yet again. "I'm going off subject here... Anyways, thanks to (Y/N)'s information, the CCG has concluded that Aogiri is the organization that is targeting you." Great, just great. The biggest and strongest ghoul organization known to man is the one who wants you dead? Oh, you're doing just great in life. "For this reason, the CCG will enhance your protection."

You were about to thank your mentor until Urie cut you off. "'Enhance' their protection? What protection? Are you saying that (Y/N) was protected before the Dodgy Mother incident?"

"Kuki, it's-" He cut you off before you could tell him it's alright.

"Where the hell was their protection when Roma attacked them? Where was their protection for two hours after the incident started? Don't give me that bullshit. (Y/N) wasn't protected back then and if things don't change as of now I'll go see Tsuneyoshi Washuu myself."

"I have to agree on that." Haise nodded, much to your surprise. You were sure he would have scolded Urie for interrupting again. "I'll be sure to have a serious chat with Arima and Akira about it. (Y/N) is very important to us all, but if their body were to land in the hands of Aogiri, I don't know what they could be able to do with it."

"Don't give me that image." You shivered, trying to push back the mental image of your body being dissected and dismantled by some disgusting ghouls.

"We'll also be checking the student body in case any other ghouls may be lurking around the school. By next week, things should be a lot safer." Haise concluded.

As soon as the meeting was over, Kuki got up and walked out of the room, earning the confused stares of just about everyone else.

As you watched him leave, you frowned when his face shifted from an unreadable expression to something that looked a lot like guilt. It was almost suspicious.

"Well someone didn't want to stick around for longer than needed." Shirazu sassed.

"Leave him alone. It was a traumatizing experience for him." Mutsuki sighed. It was traumatizing, alright. But you thought you had made it clear to him that you didn't bare a grudge against him for it? Well, he might not remember it, seeing as Kuki was acting pretty high when you told him that. Especially considering the fact that he... He told you he loved you. His mind must've been somewhere else at the time. Maybe you should go up there to remind him it's alright and no one's mad at him for what he's done.

You stood up from your chair, earning questioning looks from your squad. "I'm gonna go talk things out with him." You explained.

"It's probably a good idea." Haise nodded. "And try to convince him not to throw himself at you every time you're in danger too, if you have the time?"

"Ouch, I wasn't expecting that from him." Shirazu cringed, half smiling. "But yeah, go for it. If he's gonna listen to someone, it'll be you."

You nodded and made your way to the third floor, getting ready for confrontation.
