Music

I sit down at my computer

I stare at the screen

My mind is blank

I stare at the snowy landscape that is my background while music plays

I imagine myself running around in the snow with my best friends

Making snowmen

Having snowball fights

Then heading inside for hot chocolate

I slowly smile at the thought

I  scroll through the songs until I find one that I like

I click on a new song

I see myself on a beach

Alone, but not lonely

I watch as the waves crash against the rocks at the base of a cliff

Standing up I head into the water, not caring about getting my dress wet

When the water reaches waist height I dive

I open my eyes under the water and watch the bubbles rise towards the surface

I swim down

My hair swirls as I move my head

My dress flows behind me

Eventually I reach the bottom

I see rocks and sand and sunken pirate ships

I enter a ship and wander around my feet lightly brushing the bottom of the boat

I grasp the steering wheel close my eyes

The song ends and I move on

Another song that makes me cry

I imagine my best friend

They've abandoned me 

Now I'm alone

I sit on my house roof staring up at the starry sky

A silent tear falls down my face as the song ends

I flip through song after song

Different pictures playing in my head for each song

Then I reach one that makes me pause

I watch as you and your friends play on the playground

You're little kids again

You don't see me

I'm invisible

I sit on the swings watching

A small girl trips and scrapes her knee

A little boy runs over and gives her a hug

The girl's parents come over and comfort their daughter

I smile at the memory

Me and my friends when I was little

Music can take you anywhere if you let it

Sometimes music can seem like it understands you

So let it move you

Each song is a new adventure

So go ahead
