I ran. Why I ran, I don't know, but I knew I had to run away from there- from that.
I look down at my arm, tracing my fingers around the new pattern. The bud was a, which was how my tattoo was before it became the wilted rose it grew to be.
"JAERIN GET BACK HERE YOU'VE GOT A LOT TO EXPLAIN."
I looked behind me to see Aera, on her knees, with several bags in hand, catching for breath.
"Sorry, you had to run all the way here. It's just that... well... this happened."
I show her the new image on my forearm. Aera looked up, a shocked expression written all over her face.
"What do you think caused that?" Aera questioned.
"I honestly don't know."
From then on, we kinda just walked in silence, wondering what this new tattoo could mean. Finally one of us had come up with something.
"Well since it kinda started over your tattoo, it could either mean one of two things. One, your relationship with him has been given a fresh new start, or, two, you have a new soulmate, but look, Jaerin, whether or not he's still your soulmate, you need to overcome your past so you can be happy. I want you to be happy, and I'm sure he'd want you to be happy too."
Before I could respond, we both stopped. We were in front of the doorway to the girl's dorm building, but it wasn't what was stopping us from going in, it was who.
The pink haired boy began to speak hastily, an odd, bright color on his face that was unfamiliar compared to our past encounters, "Okay I've got something to say to both of you, but first Aera I'm-"
"Jaemin, do yourself a favor and leave. You've only caused us trouble and I'm sure you were about to now too. Jaerin and I have no interest in your doing, so just leave," Aera deadpanned. Although it seemed as if she were bored, you could see a fire burning in her eyes.
The colors from Jaemin's face drained away, only left with the distinct feeling of neglect, but any sign of that had been replaced with a fiery look.
"Since you have no interest in my doing," he retorts, mocking Aera's words, "you'll just have to find out the news yourself on Monday." He then furiously strode off with his attitude.
"Finally, that annoying brat's gone," Aera muttered, as we entered the dorm building, beginning to head towards our room.
"Don't you think you're being a bit harsh on Jaemin? It sounded like he was trying to say sorry," I replied. Although he caused me no good, I didn't want anything bad to happen to him. After all, he was still family, and family sticks together, or rather, is supposed to stick together.
Our parents run a successful company, and since they often had to leave us in Korea, they left us in a boarding school. Jaemin was pretty much the only family I had, but ever since the incident, he clearly hated the idea of being related to me. So much for sticking together...
"Well," Aera began, "Even if he were to apologize to me, I wouldn't forgive him until he apologized to you. After all, it is you who suffered. If he's going to ask for forgiveness he's gonna have to work for it."
Halting in front of our apartment, Aera shoved the key into the key slot, twisting and then entering. We then dispersed to do our own things.
Although they had never spoken of the thought, Jaerin and Aera had the same question looming over their heads: what did Jaemin want to tell them?
