I woke up to the glare of the morning light that shone through the window. In an attempt to get up while being blinded by the light, I fell off the edge of my bed, tumbling to the floor, hitting my leg on the table.
There's literally nothing next to my bed. How'd I hit my leg?
It was morning, and a weekend at that, so I kinda just laid there staring at the floor, my leg slightly throbbing from the impact. That was until I decided to roll over and look up from where I fell from. It turned out I was, in fact, in the living room, where my leg hit the coffee table still filled with my mess of schoolwork. Guess I'll have to finish that today.
Feeling my stomach growl, I looked over at the kitchen, half expecting Aera to be there flipping pancakes and saying, "Oh look who's finally awake."
But she wasn't, which was especially odd for Aera. Stepping into her room, the first thing I noticed was that she was awake. The second thing I noticed was that she was in front of her stand mirror, still in her pajamas and mumbling to herself, over and over again, repeating herself when she supposedly made a mistake. Must've been quite the speech she was practicing.
Likely spotting me through the reflection, Aera swiveled around, and walked past me with the most casual face she could muster, saying, "Let's make some breakfast dude."

It was unusually quiet as I shoveled the pancakes off the plate and into my mouth, with Aera staring at me the entire time, almost as if I was her long lost child. I guess in a way Aera was my second mom.
"So how did I end up on the couch last night?" I finally inquired, breaking the awkward silence.
"Oh I came in last night and I saw you sleeping on the floor so I carried you there." Aera slowly nodded her head and continued to do so even after she finished talking.
"Right you went to see your lab partner. How'd that go?"
"Good," Aera spoke rather skittishly. "We did sciencey stuff and all that."
I stared at her in pure disbelief. Aera was acting weird, and likely hiding something at that, but before I could confront her, her phone beeped.
"That's probably my lab partner, I got to go." Grabbing her phone, jacket and backpack, Aera left, leaving the remains of her pancakes behind. Well that's just more cleaning for me.
After cleaning up our breakfast, I go over to the coffee table, to clean up the mess of school stuff I left there last night. Once I had done so, I sat down, and opened my planner with the determination to finish all my school work today so I would have the rest of the weekend to do whatever I wanted. Looking at the agenda one assignment in particular stood out to me. It was the science project Aera's been working on recently. Aera sure seems in a rush to finish it. I wonder when it's due, I thought, now checking the details of this infamous project.
It was due on Monday.
That's two days to finish this project, and looking at the project brief there was a whole lot to do.
I banged my head against the coffee table multiple times in frustration; I put so much effort in this week to stay organized and on top of things but clearly that hasn't worked out.
Soon after my head started to hurt, so I laid off the banging, leaning against the sofa instead. It's a lot to do but if I stay up really late today for the project, and do the rest tomorrow, I should be able to carry on the school week without too much homework, I figured, finally feeling productive again, I'll have to talk to Renjun though.
I took out my phone, opening up our chat. We had exchanged numbers, solely because the science teacher made us for this project.
Thinking back to the events of last night, I realized that I was gonna call Renjun last night, but didn't. It just comes to show how bad I am at not procrastinating.
Shaking the thought off, I wrote a quick text, asking about working on the project today. Renjun replied seconds later:
moominstealer:
I'm free today, wanna meet at the library?
Replying with a yes, I gathered my belongings and headed out the door.
It's going to be okay.
