Keith never expected a knock on their door so late.

'Can't a guy watch TWD late at night in peace?' He thought to himself.

Still, he rose to his feet and approached the door, peeking out the window. Pulling back the curtain he saw a face he wasn't expecting to see. He unlocked the door, pulling it open quietly.

"Pidge?"

"Listen here, Keith. I care about you, too. I've known Lance way longer than you have. You wanna know something? Hunk and I used to be his friends. And then, he stabbed us all in the back and left us for Rolo and Nyma.

He calls me short. He's called Hunk fat. He told Shay she needs to stop sleeping around -- which she's never done! I'm trying to protect you before he hurts you, too, Keith! It's going to happen, and if this continues I can't be there for you!"

Throughout her entire lecture, Keith became more and more frustrated. "Katie, I'm sorry that all happened to you. But, you can't keep seeing the worst in him! He's suffering! And quite frankly, the only one causing my any type of pain is you. I'm all for making friends and not enemies, but it seems like we're not on the same page."

"Clearly not since you're still willing to give up all of this just to protect someone who doesn't need you!" She screeched, sending it echoing through the house.

The two continued to argue, paying no mind to the sleepy figure coming from the upstairs.

"You know what, Pidge? I can't take this anymore! I hope you can find another ride to school on Monday because I don't want you anywhere near me."

"Well then, it works out perfectly seeing as you'll be too busy carting your broken little boyfriend around!"

"He is not my boyfriend!" Keith screamed, slamming the door in her face and locking the deadbolt.

"Keith? What was that all about?"

"Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Tell her to leave." With that, Keith trudged up the stairs, locking himself in his room.

*~*~*~*~*

Keith groaned at the sound of his alarm, sitting up in his bed. Deciding he'd ask Lance about church, he pulled his phone off the charger.

Opening his text thread, he started to type.

Me: Hey, Lance. I was wondering if you

wanted to come to church today?

Pidge and I aren't on the best of terms

I'd really rather not face her alone

Delivered -- Just Now

After a good 10 minutes or so he hadn't received a response. Setting his phone aside, he moved to his closet, picking out a church outfit. Every once in a while his phone would buzz indicating a notification, but each time his expectations lowered, seeing as none of them were from Lance.

It took another twenty minutes or so for a response to come through, but turned up disappointing in a way.

Lance: Can't

Just now

Lance: Sorry

Just now

Keith frowned, grabbing his phone from the bedside table.

Me: everything okay?
