Penny stifles a massive yawn, shooting me an apologetic look.
"This is so hard! I mean when did Mrs. Sanders even talk about something like this?" she holds up a page from her World History textbook, "And now she wants us to complete an essay!"
"I'm pretty sure that she talked about this in class, maybe you weren't paying attention?" I tap the page she is holding with my pen.
"How would you be so sure?" she throws me an annoyed look, "You weren't even there! And trust me Dana. Maybe we should sue her?"
"She'll probably sue you for suing her," Nora adds, turning to smirk at Penny from my bed.
Penny gropes for my arm, pulling me towards her in a hurry, "You should probably sue her for trespassing!" she whisper-yells in my ear.
"Heard that, Grandma," Nora shouts from over her novel which she is currently reading on my bed.
Penny huffs, "Red hair!" she yells at Nora.
"Blonde hair!" Nora yells back.
Both of them glare at each other for a full minute before turning away muttering curses under their breaths.
I shake my head at their childish behavior, returning to my homework.
After Mason left, Penny barged into my house, wanting to know more about my ride home. An hour passed before Nora climbed through my window lunging at my bookshelf, searching for a novel.
Nora laughs to herself softly about something in her book and Penny has her hair in a mess from all the times she is pulling it out in an attempt to complete her World History essay. I fear that she may rip my table in half, sometime now.
I leaf through Jane Eyre trying to find the perfect quote for my English Literature essay on the Employee-Employer relationship of Jane and Mr. Rochester. My mind is completely engrossed in the book when my phone pings with a message, startling me out of the chair.
"Who is it?" Penny drawls, her eyes dropping.
I check my phone.
Mason:
Launch. Tomorrow night. Pick you up at 7.What the heck is he talking about?
"It's Mason?" I answer Penny's questioning look.
"Argh! What does the jerk want now?" she asks, her droopy eyes widening to saucers, in an instant.
I flip my phone in her directon urging her to read the text herself.
"Launch?" she frowns.
"Gosh! I totally forgot. Did someone mention about the Launch?" Nora bounces out of the bed, rushing towards Penny to read the text over her shoulder.
Penny leans away in her chair, her eyes shooting daggers at Nora.
"Sorry Dude," Nora says to Penny before squinting at the screen to read the text.
"Sorry!" Penny scoffs under her breath.
"Wow! This is so cool," Nora smirks watching the phone with excitement.
"Care to explain?" Penny demands, folding her arms across her chest.
"Williams-Young Textiles is releasing a brand new clothing line called Elle, at the Launch tomorrow. There is a formal occasion after the initial release into media," Nora explains.
"Williams-Young Textiles? Never heard of that before," Penny frowns in concentration trying to rack her brain for the name.
"It's a new addition to the Empire. And that is why Dad flew all the way over to this place last week," Nora explains.
"Yeah," Penny agrees, "together with two of the most annoying people on earth!" she concludes under her breath.
"This is gonna be so much fun!" Nora claps her hands, ignoring Penny, "And this is the best place to execute stage two of my master-plan."
I throw her a questioning look, "How?"
"When Mason escorts you, Rhea is going to have her absolute focus on trying to sabotage your relationship. Which provides me with the excellent chance to bag Seth," she ends with a grin.
I ponder about the idea, when at once my mind flashes red. How the hell did I forget it?
"It's not bound to work. Mom is going to be there," I tell her.
"Your mom?" Nora sounds puzzled.
"She's the lawyer for Mr. Evans' department," Penny answers for me.
"Oh that's not a problem. There won't be any lawyers for the reception. They are required to attend only the formal release and media conference," Nora reassures.
I share a look with Penny and she shrugs.
"I don't think is a totally bad idea," Penny says to me.
I nod. "But Mom is never going to let me leave to a party with Mason," I say.
Penny and Nora sigh at the same time, and spend a second glaring at each other, for coping each other's timing. Finally both of them start to think of something to solve the problem with Mom.
"What if you say to her that you're going alone, or maybe as a friend of Nora?" Penny suggests her eyes wide with excitement.
"Or maybe you can be Kenneth's date?" Nora responds with a smirk.
"Oooh...," Penny shoots Nora a sly smile, "Touche."
Wow. I'm dreaming a lot, lately. First, Did I just earn a ride with Kenneth? And second, did Nora and Penny just agree on the same thing?
Both of them high five right infront of my nose, jerking me out of my thoughts.
"It's gonna be fun," Nora smirks to herself.
