This line i feel is referencing the fact that The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is often considered the first slasher film.
Could also be pointing to the fact that the true monsters are the savagery of human nature's potential, seeing that cannibalism is a crazed human act you would usually expect to see from psychopaths.
