The 3rd single by Ice Nine Kills from their 5th full-length album The Silver Scream. This song is inspired by the movie The Crow.

The Crow is infamous from an accident on set that ended Brandon Lee’s life.

First quote: "Here lies the lifeless bride and groom, till’ death do us part came far too soon"

Eric Draven and his fiancee were killed the night before their wedding. So, the bride and groom were lifeless on their wedding day. “Till death do us part” is one of the most common things said when two people get married, but this came immediately for this couple when they were murdered.

Second quote: "Buildings burn and people die all of the time"

While also a reference to the famous ending lines of the movie, this can be seen as a hidden reference to the song of the same name on Safe Is Just A Shadow, a previous release in the band’s discography.

This lyric also takes on a whole new meaning seeing as how the song in name was written about the departure of former member Jeremy Schwartz, who appears on the next song in the tracklist, Rocking The Boat.

Third quote: "When you meet the man whose life you stole"

In the 1994 film, The Crow, which the song is based around, Eric Draven comes back from the dead a year after he and his fiancee have been murdered. Remembering how he died and with the guidance of the crow he sets out to get revenge against the gang that murdered them. Upon seeing the man they murdered exactly a year ago, the gang is spooked and can’t believe what they’re seeing. Hence the line, “when you meet the man whose life you stole”, the gang came face to face with the man whose life they literally stole.

Fourth quote: "A flight for the fallen flies the crow"

It is believed that when a person dies, a crow carries their soul. When Eric Draven is killed, he rises from the grave and takes the gothic mantle of a crow to mercilessly track his murderers.

Fifth quote: "These vengeful thoughts trapped underneath rage, scorn, misery. Payback for what you took from me:
Hope, love, sanity"

As stated before, Eric Draven and his fiancee Shelly Webster were murdered on October 30, a day before their wedding. Exactly a year later Eric comes back from the grave and upon remembering what happened all he can think about now is getting revenge due to his feelings of “rage, scorn, and misery”. Eric/The Crow is getting revenge for what was taken from him a year ago being “hope, love, and his sanity”.

Sixth quote: "No forgiveness, just farewell"

Whenever someone loses something as valuable as their life and they are given a chance to right what has been wronged, the first thing they won’t think about is forgiveness, it’s to kill the person who caused the loss. This is so exception with Eric who just wants to kill the gang that killed him and his fiancee a year ago.
