"Go on, get ready for bed." Hayle exclaimed icily as she gestured me away with a flick of her wrist. The reflection of her glasses blocked the stern glare she gave me as she turned to give her attention to Izuku's mom, demeanor completely changed. Her face lit up into a fake smile that highlighted the wrinkles on her face.
"I am so sorry if (Y/N) caused you any trouble." She apologized as I took a few steps up the stairs. My room was on the third floor of the building and it was the last one in the hall. I proceeded going up, but I was curious to hear Izuku's mom's response, so I took steps slowly.
"Oh, (Y/N) was no trouble at all. My son and (Y/N) were having so much fun at the park."
"Oh, how lovely!" Hayle said. I could sense the stressed enthusiasm in her voice.
I snuck a peek around the corner at Izuku's mom. She looked decently happy. At least she seemed to tell the truth.
Izuku's mom adjusted sleeping Izuku in her arms and then asked the question I was dreading. "I'm sorry to ask, but is that Mrs. Invincible's and Dark Phase's child?"
"Why, yes. Yes it is." Hayle commented. "A few months ago this child was delivered to the front doors of this orphanage. Delivered by All Might himself."
I rolled my eyes and silently sighed.
Oh no. Hayle's gonna ruin my side of the story...
Izuku's mom looked interested to hear more. I was so glad at the moment that my new friend was asleep.
"It all started a few months ago. The famous fire of the home of Mrs. Invincible left this poor angel homeless. The culprit was believed to be Dark Phase, her husband. In my opinion, I never trusted this 'redeemed hero.' Been a big influence on (Y/N). Don't want to be raising a future villain, am I right?"
I clenched my fists and tears started to sting my eyes again. She had some nerve-
"Luckily, All Might was at the scene and took this child here. (Y/N) has no other family to go to, so I took this child in like my own. Think of the trauma this sweetheart has witnessed! Probably stared death in the eyes! I tried my best to keep this child safe. Tried to be a teacher of heroism. The only problem is that (Y/N) likes to run away. The poor dear."
Although some of the information was true, she left out a lot of details. Especially the part about how All Might had to practically beg her to take me in. If it were any other hero or just someone with a kind heart, she would have refused.
"Amazing." Izuku's mom said under her breath. Hayle smiled proudly and then returned to her computer.
"It's getting late. I'm sorry that you had to take some time out of your day to return (Y/N). It won't happen again."
I gulped nervously at her words. I really needed to get in bed before something bad happened.
