A 13-year old Virgil looked out of the window from the bus, listening to music through his earbuds connecting to his phone. He always found this part of his day relaxing as at both at home and at school he found stressful.
From school, it's obvious, because of the kids and the grades. But at home was totally different. His parents weren't bad parents, they just believed differently than him, and never really paid attention to him.
Logan, who sat beside him and was currently his best friend, looked at him. "You seem quiet, what is of the circumstance now?" He asked raising his eyebrow. He often could tell when something was off, even though he hardly show emotion, he knew Virgil by the back of his hand.
Virgil shrugged. "It's nothing important." He sighed and continued to look out the window.
Logan frowned and put his hand on Virgil's shoulder to get his attention. "If it's nothing you wouldn't be simulating differently. You can tell me if it's something filed with importance." He said plainly, but also worried.
Virgil raised an eyebrow. "Simulating??" He said, confusingly and sighed. "It's just my parents seemed to be drifting off more, which is normal by its been different ever since they started working more." He sighed and looked at the ceiling of the bus.
Logan nodded. "I understand, I wish I could be of assistance but unfortunately I can't." He sighed softly and looked at him.
Virgil nodded. "Don't worry it's alright, I'll text you if I need anything or anyone to talk to." He said and Logan nodded.
As soon as the bus stopped at his house, he sighed softly and brushed his hair back. He grabbed his book bag and waved goodbye to Logan. Logan waved back and smiled slightly, something he only does with Virgil.
Virgil got out of the bus and stared at his house as he heard the bus leave behind him. He sighed softly and began to walk in to his house.
He closed the door behind him and looked around in his neat house thanks to his mom. He put his book bag down on the side where no one could trample over it and heard voices in his kitchen. He looked in the door frame and saw his parents talking, mainly about work, which is what he always heard about.
It was usual but once they saw him, they put there attention on him. "Hey virgil, so what did you make on your test today?" His mother asked, hoping he made a 100. Which that's what she always wants. Either a 100% or He failed, even if it was just a 98%.
That's why he needed to be 'Perfect' or at least one of the reasons. "I-I did make a 100." He plastered on a fake smile, showing that he was 'happy'.
His mother nodded and noticed he put on eyeshadow. He went up to her son and wiped it off. "Honey, you shouldn't be wearing that, it doesn't show your complexion well." she said, after she wiped it off.
Virgil sighed and nodded, knowing to not to talk back to her about his opinion about it. "Okay mom.." he looked at his dad who just answered a call on work, and now his mother had her full attention on the call as well.
Virgil sighed and walked out of the room, his parents not even paying attention that he left. He walked upstairs and went to his room. He grabbed his bookbag as he did and started to do homework, while listening to music from his phone.
