The next day, Connor woke up early in the arms of his strong boyfriend, and as always, he just buried deeper into Aarons chest and tried to go back to sleep. Even he was surprised at the person he was becoming, with a real boyfriend who actually cared about him, and the fact that he was making friends, if a little slowly. It still amazed him.
Aaron woke nearly an hour later. He felt Connors head on his shoulder as he tried to open his eyes. Nope. He was so tired his body seemed to be rebelling against his brain. Connor smiled and kissed Aarons hair softly. It was soft, the color of straw in the summer, draped messily across his forehead. Aaron stirred slowly, but made no move to get up.
Connor glanced at the time on his phone. 7: 08. He sighed, and whispered softly into Aarons ear to let him know to wake up.
"Azz, I'm getting ready okay? We have to go soon if we're walking."
Aaron gave a muffled groan, and then sat up on the bed, brushing his hair out of his face. He rubbed his eyes and gave a huge yawn, which made Connor yawn too.
Connor laughed. Sleepy Aaron was so cute.
They got ready together, brushing their teeth and getting dressed, not talking much, but still sharing kisses in every room they were in.
They were just picking out clothes from Aarons closet, when Connor stopped to look at something on the desk beside.
"What's this?" He asked, smiling.
Aaron laughed. "It's nothing."
He picked up the object, and looked at it fondly. It was a small pin, of a pretty little robin, with a bright red chest, and several warm brown feathers. Aaron didn't know exactly where he had got it from, but he definately knew he had never worn it before. He pinned it to his shirt, and smiled at Connor, who giggled and kissed Aaron's forehead gently.
When they went downstairs, Connor quickly made tea, and they sat together on the couch, but not too close, as Aarons Mom had just come down with Hazel.
It wasn't long before they had to leave, so with rushed goodbyes they hurried out of the house and on to the path to school. Connor was becoming quite familiar with this part of the area. He liked it there. He liked listening to the peaceful whistle of the birds in the trees, and the racing of the river, and Aarons laugh. The laugh that lit up Connors heart, and made him feel like he was flying.
As they walked, Connor noticed that Aaron was looking anxious, and that he kept messing with his hair, as he always did when he was nervous.
"Are you okay?" He said. "You look worried about something."
"I'm fine." Connor raised his eyebrows.
"Fine, not okay."
"What's wrong?" Connor asked, smiling supportively.
"I don't know." Aaron sighed. "I want to tell AJ that I'm gay, but what if he doesnt like me anymore? I'm just scared I guess."
"You're gonna be fine. I'm sure AJ wont even care. He doesnt seem like an asshole."
Aaron laughed softly, and tried to believe what Connor was saying, but that didn't make him any less nervous.
To Aaron's surprise, Connor reached out and took his hand, squeezing it softly, looking into each others eyes and smiling. Aaron was surprised at how safe he felt just touching Connor, and he was filled with determination as they continued to walk up to school.
When they arrived, Aaron and Connor walked up to where AJ was sitting and began talking and laughing as they usually did.
Aaron took a deep breath, and whispered a very nervous, "I need to talk to you," to which AJ smiled brightly at him.
