29. Slobad and the Furnace

Slobad walked back into the door way “COME OUT, COME OUT LITTLE HUMAN SCUM, WE KNOW YOUR IN HERE!” we glanced at each other and nodded, we had already devised a plan in the event this happened “WE PUT GWAFA BACK IN THE PRISON WHEN YOU BROKE OUR GATE, THERE IS NO POINT IN HIDING!” we stepped out into the middle of the hallway and raised our hands “you got us, but may I ask a question?” Slobad stepped forwards “you may? But I’ll decide if I answer” Venser and Ral looked at me knowing we were only go going to have time for one question “where is Gwafa?” Slobad smiled “we have him chained up just around the corner; he is not in any way able to help anyone” I frowned “why would you chain up your own ally?” Slobad smiled “you only asked for one question, and now I have only one thing to say: CHARGE!” the goblins behind us charged, the goblins in front of us charged and then to our surprise some goblins come charging out of the doorways next to us, we sprang into action fire, ice and lighting was flying from me and Ral, each blast that hit sent a goblin flying, I glanced around to see how Ral and Venser were doing, Ral was doing his Laxus thing and I could not see Venser, I continued turning then froze Slobad was fighting some kind of water fox and losing, even in the heat of the ironworks the water fox was not even steaming or anything else like water does when  warmed. I kept spinning throwing out fire and ice blasts at whatever moved and swinging random ends of my staff into whatever else got to close, as I turned I saw the fox bite into Slobad’s leg, next turn saw Slobad lose an arm, then I suffered an attack from the last place I would have guessed, above, the goblins started a dog pile on me, I could not get up, and I had no space to move, the last thing I saw was the fox sending Slobad into one of the furnaces.

Then suddenly I felt a hot wave of relief as almost boiling water rushed down the hallway sweeping up anything standing in its way, after the water passed someone helped me to my feet, at first I thought it was Ral but when I turned it was a person made of water “sorry about that” it said as it made its way to help Ral off the ground “who are you?” was the only thing that came to mind its head spun and looked at me while its body faced the other way “Malcator, Gwafa’s Guardian elemental” soon after he lifted Ral to his feet the water exploded outwards and Gwafa was left standing there “I really don’t like giving him control to often” Gwafa said. “I can see why” I nodded. Venser stepped from around the corner “the ironworks are soon to be down, let’s get the hell out of here hopefully in the next thirty seconds” Ral looked at Venser “WHERE THE FUCK DID YOU GO?!” Venser sighed “I went and got a really powerful bomb, no, it’s not a nuke, but it will go off with enough force to destroy this place” Ral sighed “why didn’t we just do that to begin with?” Venser walked over and handed Ral a request sheet “because I had a rescue any alive prisoner request, now can we go before that bomb kills us all” Venser extended his arm “grab on” we all grabbed on and at the same time as we heard the explosion I felt the black hole in my stomach again. This time I didn’t pass out, we arrived at Sky Hope City on the roof of Izzet. “Thank god” I said.
