One Time Thing

The sound of birds chirping outside my window wakes me up. My eyes burn and my heads pounding. I turn over to see Shyanne still sound asleep. I slowly make my way out of bed trying not to wake her. I head downstairs I see everyone passed out, I feel bad that I forgot to get them blankets. I walk into the kitchen as quiet as I can I start to make coffee.

"Can I get a cup."
Someone says, causing me to jump.

"You scared me."
I turn to see Pouya standing in the kitchen.

"Sorry, the smell woke me up."
He says with a laugh.

"I'm sorry, I can't survive without my morning cup of coffee. Especially with a hangover like this."
I say pouring him a cup.

"No don't apologize it's your house."
He says taking the cup out of my hand.

I sit at the table and he sits across from me.

"So how old are you?"
He questions.

"I'm about to be 21."
I say taking a sip.

"Ah that's dope, so you're younger than the boys."
He says

"By a couple years, I mean Ruby is only 25"

"Well that's cool."
He says leaning his arm back on the chair.

"Good morning."
Courtney says giving Kevin a kiss.

"Good morning babe."
He says back to her.

"Morning"
I say with a smile.

"Nice hickeys."
One of the random girls says to me after walking into the kitchen.

"Oh god"
I say grabbing my neck.

They all laugh.

"Must've been a rough night."
Kevin says.

"That's not funny."
I say standing up

I go to Ruby's room opening the door quietly. To my surprise he's not in there.

I walk back to the kitchen.

"You guys can eat whatever you want."
The girls attack the fridge and cabinets.

"Have you seen Ruby?"
I ask Pouya.

"Last I seen him was when he went outside last night when you and scrimmy were in the room making all that noise."
He says sipping his coffee.

I walk to the front door looking out but nothing and the car is here. I walk to the upstairs patio. Ruby is passed out on the swing, I walk out quietly.

"Ruby"
I whisper, gently shaking his shoulder.

He jumps in fright.

"Sorry I didn't mean to scare you."
I say

"You're good"
He says stretching.

"Did you sleep out here all night?"
I question

"Yeah."

"Why?"

He doesn't say anything he stands up, looks me in the eyes and runs his fingers along my neck. I feel sick as I remember the marks that Scott left all over my neck last night. He walks inside without another word, My heart sinks.

I sit on the swing picking up the blunt I left out last night. I light it taking a hit then leaning back.

"You good shawty?"
I lift my head to see scrim coming outside.

"No not really, Ruby's mad or something."
I say passing him the blunt.

"Why's he mad?"
He asks.

I point at the marks on my neck.

"Why would he be mad about that."

"I don't fuckin know."
I take the blunt back taking multiple hits I pass him the blunt.

"I'll talk to him."
He says leaning his head back.

"It's fine I'll talk to him, why the hell is everyone up so early?"
I question, standing up.

"Babe it's almost twelve in the afternoon and we have a show today."
He says taking my hand in his, looking up at me.

"Fuck I totally forgot you guys had a show."
I say, slipping my hand out of his.

"Why you actin weird?"
He asks, standing up.

"I was pretty fucked up last night Scott."

"Yeah and what?"
He just stands there waiting for a point.

"We're family."
I say backing up.

"You regret it?"
He asks stepping close to me.

"I didn't say that."
I sigh

"I'm gonna go talk to Ruby."
I go inside shutting the door behind me.
