You slid down to the floor, unshed tears glistening in your eyes. The cold tiles pressed against you, but you didn't care at all.
The memories of your parents story resurfaced in your mind. You remembered the day they told you very clearly.
You were 11 years old, you'd learned about soulmates and soulmate connections through your friends(who had already gotten their connection or found out what their connection meant).
You remember the way you trudged into the living room where your parents were relaxing. That had immediately noticed something was wrong and had asked you what happened.
The unsure and worried looks that were on their face when you explained what you had learned at school and how you were unhappy that you didn't have your connection was clear in your mind.

Flashback
**✿❀ ❀✿**Your parents nodded slightly at each other before turning to you once again.
"Well Y/N sweetheart, you do have a soulmate connection," your face lit up at your mothers words, "but, before we get on to that, me and your father want to tell you somethings, okay?"
You nodded along, excitement flowing through you at the thought of having a soulmate.
"You see Y/N, your mother and I," he paused for a moment, trying to figure out how to continue, "we weren't soulmates," he finally spoke out.
"Me and your father, fell in love, and decided that we didn't care about the whole soulmate thing that the world is so obsessed with," your mother had continued before you could say anything.
"B-but, What does that have to with me?" You questioned, still shocked by the news about your parents.
"It's becoming more and more common for people to reject their soulmates because they don't believe or they wanted someone better, we wanted to protect you from that," your mother began explaining, " we would have given it to you later but we were hoping that you we could wait until you found someone you fell in love with before so that you wouldn't need the connection at all."
You just kept quiet, you weren't mad that your parents aren't soulmates, it just hurt you that they would keep something like this a secret from you and planned on not telling you for years.
A wave of discouraging thoughts washed over you, 'what if they're right? What if my soulmate wants someone better than me?
Will my soulmate reject me?'"Here you go sweetie," your parents brought out a necklace and gave it to you, explaining that you weren't allowed to go find who ever your soulmate was until you turned 18.
All you did was nod, showing that you agreed still not uttering a word to them.

End of flashback
**✿❀ ❀✿**Your parents story and your fear of rejection were engraved in your mind since that day. The fear only got worse and worse as time went on and there was nothing you could do about it.
Of course you wanted to meet chan and be with him, he seemed like the kindest sweetest boy on the planet, but a part of you believed that you aren't good enough for him, that he'll reject you once he sees you in hopes for a better second chance soulmate. Thoughts like these continued to flood your mind.
You hadn't realized that you'd subconsciously grabbed your necklace while you were reminiscing, you hadn't known that chan could here every single thought you had in your mind.
You hadn't realized that he was standing right outside the door you were leaning against.
