Falling at most unexpected time

Realising she had said much more then she had ever dared, she looked away but that wasn't before Kartik saw her tears. And for the first time he realised, somehow their relation was no longer of that of a boss and employee. Because only waters just filled in her eyes but it seems like a lot of needles has pierced his heart. He really can't see her sad, no matter what the reason is, he want to see that innocent glow on her face which he thought if it could have been she would be worth falling... but then does already fall for her or.. Not but then Why else would he feel his heart pierce at the pain in her eyes?

Naira's words kept on echoing in Kartik's mind even after the meeting. For the first time he wasn't able to concentrate on his dream project because the brutal reality of Naira was clenching his heart.

How many times had he overlooked the warmth of his home when he returns from office? How many times had he overlooked the way his dad and Akhilesh silently supported and guided him? The jokes , the laughter, the ability to share your dream with your loved ones and see confidence in their eyes.

He felt empty just trying to imagine all these thing missing from his life. And Naira.. Her life had missed all this from past so many years.

He gave her a glance to find those beautiful eyes shining with unshed tears. She was looking anywhere but at him. She had poured her heart out and now she felt emotionally naked and vulnerable. Afterall he was just a stranger. Her boss. But was he... really stranger to him, why she felt sharing lot more with him, why she felt light after sharing with Kartik, why she felt he'll not take her words in joke and sympathize her... but is she thinking right...

''Naira..''

Naira looked at him and then looked away, ''Jee sir?''

''how did You find the meeting?''

His voice was too tender for a boss and afraid she might take it for pity he added in a normal tone, ''I mean.. I felt us progressing. What about you?''

'I felt the same sir..''

She still refused to look at him and for some reason it was affecting him badly.

''You can look at me u know.. I am not a basilisk and you wont turn to stone by looking at me!''

He had meant to say it casually but his voice was frustrated.

Finally she turned to him, biting her lip and her eyes were a bit let stony, even though they were still shining.

'I am sorry sir. Its my fault. I shouldn't have answered you that way. And now I just..''

''I understand Naira.. Plz dont explain yourself.'' he assured her.

Naira looked away again and Kartik felt he will die if she didn't look back at him right away! As if getting the message via some telephetic link, she looked up and replied, ''No one ever said they were proud of me. Maybe parents did but its too long back, I barely remember their faces let alone what they use to say. And when you said it today.. It just broke that dam I had built inside me to hold back all my emotions.''

Kartik unconsciously extended his hand and placed it on hers, '' Why do you do this Naira? Emotions are what make you a human.. Why fight them?''

Naira was too far gone in the conversation to feel the warmth his touch initiated in her.. Or the tenderness of his touch..

Naira: ''Because they hurt sir. The very emotions that make me human, also have the ability to make me bleed inside. And when that bleeding reduces one to a mere body with a scarred, tattered soul then you need to hold them back. To live u need to kill those emotions.''

Her voice had so much pain and her eyes were getting teary. Kartik felt a storm of emotions unleashed inside him. But right now her falling tears was giving him more pain. He wish to wipe all of it but not thinking of anything he move forward and took her in his embrace. Naira was in so much turmoil that she hugged him back. She needed a warn support right now and Kartik new it and was giving the same.

Not sure for how long they were hugging each other, Naira then realised he was still hugging her, she reluctantly moved from him.

The lost of the physical contact tugged at his heart. His heart was already crying for the pain she felt. His soul could feel those scars she talked about. When her eyes met his, In that moment he wanted to pull her in his arms again and console her. Care for her. Love her.

He blinked. But there was no use. His heart had already said the final words. His heart had already made the decision. Before they stepped out of car and into the office, Kartik already knew... He loved her.
