Chapter 20

Midnight's P.O.V.

Really! What's up with Red these days?!

"Mount Justice is under attack!" Nightwing announced to the whole team.

He barked out orders to us telling us where to go and what area we got to watch over. I got the little memorial room for all the late heros.

When I got there I immediately saw Jason's Hologram. I stared at the 2nd Robin for a few minutes before closing my eyes and sighing.

"I'm sorry." I whispered "Robin was right; I was just so...afraid!"

I felt my eyes stsrt to sting. Not now Steel!

"I didn't mean for any of this to happen." I opened my eyes slowly as 13 year old Jason came into few.

"You should talk!" I heard from behind me.

I whirled my heels around to see what looked like a Harley Quinn reject.

"I'm guessing your Red Jester." I said raising my eyebrows.

"And I'm guessin' your the one that stole my boyfriend." She growled me.

I blinked for a few minutes. I stole this freak's boyfriend?

"I'm sorry but, huh?" I asked sounding really dumb at the moment.

"Oh please don't play stupid with me! You know what you did!" She hissed at me.

I rolled my eyes at her. "You know I do know what I did!" I smirked notching an arrow onto my bow. "I kicked your butt right here and right now."

I let go of a few arrows that she easily dodged. We played a short game of cat and mouse before I abandoned the arrows and went for hand to hand combat.

Big mistake!

She slashed a knife at my chest making me back up so I wouldn't get cut.

"Gah!" I fell backwards falling onto my back. "Nhhh!"

Red Jester lunged at me with her knife only for me to kick her in the face making her fall sideways. We both got up quickly and took our fighting stances.

"Listen here." I told her as we circled around eachother. "I don't know who you are but I do know that I did not steal your boyfriend! Well unless he is the superhero Robin because then...yes I stole your boyfriend."

Since I was distracted while talking to her she took the opportunity to punch me across the jaw.

"Uh!" I layed on the floor holding my jaw.

She pulled me back by my hair and held a knife to my neck.

Crap!

"I can't believe you used to be my best friend" She whispered in my ear, her voice full of venom.

I froze for a second.

"Oh my god!" I yelled horrified coming to realization.

I elbowed her gut causing her to back up and giving me an opening. I swung my leg and kicked her in her stomach making her fall onto her bottom.

"I can't believe this!" I huffed. "You think I'm dating Jason!" I screamed at her.

She looked at me with a deathly glare.

"Robin..." I shook my head as I looked at what used to be my best friend. "What happened to you?"

"I finally opened eyes is what happened." She smiled at me like a maniac. "I don't need any of you! What I need is all you traitors dead!"

She pulled at out gun and aimed it at me. I moved out the way only seconds after she pulled the trigger.

"Robin!" I yelled at her as she stood up again.

"Stop calling me that!" She swung her fist but I easily dodged it.

We both took swings and kicks at each other, both of us skillfully dogding.

"Just give up!" She laughed at me as she pulled out a knife.

Where does she keep getting those things?

I swiftly dodged her knife as she tried to stab.

"So since you think I'm dating Jason I just have one question." I told as I flipped behind her and twisted her hand until she dropped the knife. "Is he a good kisser?"

I smirked as she turned red out of anger. What I didn't expect her was to wipe thst smirk off my face. Literally! She slapped me across the face.

"Oww!" I groaned trying to pull myself from the ground only for her to get on my back.

"I am so done with all you traitors." She growled at me as she took out her gun.

My eyes widened at the thought of Robin shooting me. She smirked at my reaction as I closed my eyes tightly waiting for the trigger to go off. It didn't.

When I opened my eyes I saw Red Jester in a arm lock. There behind her was Robin, who was glaring at her.

"Let go of me Bird Brains!!" She screeched,trying to break free with no anvil.

Robin handcuffed her hands before running to me.

"Are you alright?!" He asked worried as he pulled me up from the ground "Did she hurt you?"

I shook my head. "Nothing major." I assured him.

"Good." He sighed in relief. "Now Red...Jester"

We turned to where she was which was now deserted.

"Oh god." Robin paled as the area next to us was empty.

"She'll be back." I mumbled "She won't give up until we're all dead." I looked at him for the first time with a serious expression.

"Alex..." He put his hands on my shoulders.

"I mean all of us including the Justice League." I looked down at the ground thinking about what my best friend had became.

"Alex." He repeated grabbing my chin and lifting up my head making him see the tears stream down my face.

I held onto him as tight as I could as I sobbed into his shoulder. We slowly ended up on our knees as we sat on the ground hugging each other.

Robin whispered comforting words in my ear as he rubbed my back. The team ended up finding us like that but just stood quiet and didn't want to interupt.

'This can't be happening.' I thought In only a few days my life has fallen apart...I've lost everything.

Robin kept holding me even when I stopped crying we were still in the same position but the rest of the team already left.

"It's her." I mumbled into his chest.

"What?" He asked looking down at me.

"Red Jester." I sighed. "Is Robin."

Robin stayed quiet and looked like he was contemplating. He sighed as rested his forehead on my shoulder.

"This isn't good." Was all he said as we sat there, soaking up each other's company.
