"You're going to feel a small sting," Ray said. Mikey nodded. He was laying on the tile, everyone surrounding him. He felt like he was in an operation room more than a small diner full of inexperienced teenagers.

Mikey didn't want to look. He suddenly felt a sharp pain spread all around his stomach.

"That's more than a sting!" Mikey shouted, squirming around.

"Stay still!" Ray shouted.

Mikey felt like he was in the middle of a battlefield of World War II. He read all about it and he felt like a dying soldier. He imagined it all in his head. Getting shot in the side and just laying there dying with Ray barely helping and everyone just watching. The pain only got worse from then. Mikey shouted cuss words, not knowing any other way to show his emotions.

"Are you saving him or killing him, Jet?" Frank asked.

"This kid is burnt to nearly a crisp," Ray said, "Don't argue with me, Ghoul."

Mikey looked up at Gerard and Frank, tears swelling in his eyes.

"There was no anesthetics at the pharmacy. Sorry, Mikes," Frank said.

"What is he doing to me?" Mikey asked. He had no idea how to explain the pain other than finally understanding why patients were put to sleep for surgery.

"Trying to take all the things that'll kill you out of you," Frank replied.

"Don't look," Gerard said through clenched teeth, wincing right as Mikey felt a stab inside him.

"Someone hold him down!" Ray shouted as Mikey flinched.

"I'll do it," Lynz said.

"Gee, don't look," Frank said, covering Gerard's eyes.

Mikey felt someone push down on his hips, keeping him still and down to the ground. By instinct, he grabbed his brother when the pain began feeling overwhelming. He started whimpering.

"You're good, Mikes," Frank reassured, looking over at what was happening. Mikey wanted to look but at the same time didn't. He didn't want to see how bad it really was, he didn't want to scare himself more than he already was.

"Ow! My hand!" Gerard shouted. "Where'd you get such strong grip?"

Mikey wasn't listening. He also found out Ray was sitting on his legs when he tried kicking. He could only move his arms by now.

"How much longer?" Mikey asked, starting to cry.

"Almost done," Ray said, "Where's the bandage?"

"I'll get it," Frank said, standing up and leaving Mikey's view. Gerard looked down at him.

"You're going to live, okay?" Gerard said.

"What happened to burnt intestines?" Mikey asked, a sense of relief falling on him as no more pain occurred.

"We removed the really burnt parts, you'll be good," Ray said, "Few centimeters to the right and you'd be dead right when you got shot."

"Here you go," Frank said. Ray said his thanks and Frank sat back with Gerard.

"You get a cute bandage," Ray said, "And you're done."

Mikey sat up, the room spinning around him. Gerard noticed and helped him up.

"You're dehydrated," Gerard said, "I mean, you nearly bled to death. I'll get you water."

Mikey sat at a booth, staring out into the night sky.
