Before heading in, Lynz headed to a vending machine and inserted her quarters. A gun fell out, she grabbed it and tossed it to Mikey.

She had no sign of sleepiness in her. She was always ready for adventure and action. Mikey was pretty sure she wanted to be a killjoy. Mikey was always pretty close to her and knew how badly she wanted to kill a scarecrow. That was her biggest dream. He wished he could be as fearless as she was and as adventurous, too. Still, atleast he got to be the one to grant her her wish and got to see the wide smile spread across her face from ear to ear.

"I'm so excited!" She grinned. Mikey's never seen her so energetic. She was bouncing-off-the- walls hyper "I've always wanted to do this!"

"Why haven't you?" Mikey asked, lagging behind her as she skipped away toward the headquarters.

"Nobody to go with," Lynz said, "Number one rule, never go alone. And nobody wanted to go with me."

"You never asked," Mikey replied.

"Yeah but it's the system. Only the killjoys get to all the crazy dangerous stuff," Lynz said, "I'm just there for support. And I would never try to join."

"Why not?"

"It's you guys' thing," Lynz said, "You guys have been doing it long before I arrived."

She opened the door, letting Mikey in. She followed behind him. HQ was huge. Mikey had no idea where to look, all he knew was he should start shooting. He wondered where the dracs were? He found them. The white suits flooded into the room. He aimed high, his hand trembling as he pulled the trigger. He always knew he'd someday get to go inside HQ, he just never thought it would be when he was a heartbroken sixteen year old with a spunky twenty year old woman. He at least thought he'd be with his best friends.

"Where would she be?" Mikey asked.

Lynz shrugged.

They probably should've thought this through more. Mikey looked around. He could barely think. Once the room was cleared out and dead bodies scattered the room, Mikey saw a room and through the window was the little girl. She looked scared, but still had a brave smile on her face.

"Found her," Mikey said, pointing to the door.

"You go in, I'll guard," Lynz said, grinning with adrenaline.

Mikey was ready for the door to be locked but was surprised when the doorknob turned with ease. He entered, all eyes going on him.

"Moikey!" The little girl cheered.

The scarecrows didn't say anything. They simply gave him a sneaky smirk, like they were waiting for him. Mikey raised his gun, shooting as dracs surrounded him in the room. He turned and saw Lynz shooting from outside. He shot the dracs, who were close enough for him to aim correctly. This was too easy. It made him paranoid.

He ran to the little girl, embracing her tightly.

"I-I'm so, so sorry," He whispered in her ear, "This won't happen again. I won't let this happen again."

His eyes darted to the scarecrows who all had their guns pointed at him. Mikey took a deep breath and held the little girl tightly, swinging her so she was behind Mikey. He heard a gunshot into his thigh. He felt tears beat his eyes. He felt the little girl tremble.

He took his own gun and shot the scarecrow, causing his gun to fly from his hand. There were more scarecrows, so Mikey picked the little girl and stood up. His left leg was on fire. He felt wet blood and he probably wouldn't be able to walk if he hadn't been full of adrenaline. He sprinted out past all the dracs.
