Chapter Eight: The Story of The Darkwing Rebels

Ari couldn't sleep. Her eyes are fully wide open and her body is drenched with sweat. Then, she got up and left the Louvre to get some fresh air. After undoing her braids, she put her hair back into a snatched ponytail as she sighed very deeply. She can only think about her uncle, Jared, and her friends.

"Couldn't sleep?", asked a man's voice. Ari turned around. It was Cole. She scoffed as she rolled her eyes and turned away.

"Yeah, what do you want?", she asked angrily.

Cole sighed as he brushed his bangs.

"Come hang with us", he said.

Suspicious of Cole's offer, Ari scoffed again.

"Why? So you can keep calling me an outsider?", she said.

Cole felt guilty as he sighed.

"Well...you've been acting really moody lately so I thought maybe you need some cheering up, so...hear me out", said Cole

A frustrated Ari groaned as she turned to Cole while crossing her arms.

"Look, I'm sorry I called you an outsider. It's just that...I clearly misjudged you and I wanna make it up to you", said Cole.

Feeling like she's about to crack a smile, Ari shyly looked away.

"Come on, I promise it'll be fun", said Cole singsongy.

Ari smiled as she giggled.

"Alright", she said.

Cole smiled.

"Awesome! Come on", he said as grabbed Ari's wrist,

As they reached the city, Cole transforms into a darkwing and takes off, leaving Ari behind. Then, he turns to her.

"Well, what are you waiting for?", he said as he takes off.

Reluctant at first, Ari transforms into a darkwing as she follows Cole. She continues to flap her wings harder as the mild, cooler, wind currents carried her through. Then Cole saw a store called "Alexandre's Sandwiches et Soupes" and dives down as he flies inside. Ari stops and as she was about to go in, she hears sounds of pots and pans clattering and a man shouting in French. Then, Cole flies out of the store while his talons are holding a basket of four sandwiches. Looking at the basket, Ari became a little curious.

"The first part to get to know each other", said Cole.

Thanks to Cole's joke, Ari smiled as the two of them continue flying. After their long flight, Ari and Cole reached the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower is the most wrought-iron lattice tower on the Champ De Mars. As they entered the second level of the tower, Cole and Ari reverted back into their human forms.

"Sorry, we're late. I just have to pick up some food", said Cole. Ari turned around and saw Leon and Julien, sitting together.

"No sweat Cole. We were just waiting for you", said Julien as he tosses a bottle of plant milk to Cole. Then, he and Leon turn to Ari.

"Glad you can make it", said Leon.

Ari crosses her arms.

"Wouldn't miss it" said Ari as she shyly looked away. 

"Here. Sit down with us", said Julien as he scooched a spot for Ari. Feeling suddenly shy, Ari slowly walked over and sat between Julien and Leon. Cole pulled out the four baguette sandwiches and grabbed the one that has ham and pont-l'évêque cheese.

"One ham and pont-l'évêque", he said as he tossed the sandwich to Julien. Then, he pulled out two more sandwiches. One has ham and camembert and the other one has ham and brie.
