CHAPTER 12

No. I most definitely wasn’t. It’s just lately the boys have gotten so close to me, especially Harry. I was mistaking our friendship for something else. I needed a close friend to talk to about this and this sudden closeness to Harry is really comforting. “It’s something that I would usually talk to Vanessa about, because you know it’s kinda a girl problem.” I said uncomfortably. I looked up at Harry who had a scared and almost weirded-out face. “You mean like…Dee I'm just pretending to be a girl, I can’t actually help with…” He trailed off, seemingly worriedly.

“NO! God no, Harry. Not like that.” I laughed wide-eyed at his assumption. “Oh, whew.” He let out a sigh of relief with nervous laughter. “Um, well. I don’t know how to put this lightly but…I think I'm falling in love with Jay.” I looked back up at him anticipating his reaction. He didn’t do anything, his face was emotionless.

“I know what you’re thinking. That I'm mad and I don’t even know him but Harry there’s just something about him. Since the first day we met I just felt something. The volleyball, the ruined date where he told me to go back to my room because he was worried about you guys. The romantic gestures like the surprise at paintballing and the teddy bear. And yes I know what happened yesterday but he came to comfort me not to hurt me. I'm so sure yesterday was an absolute mistake and heck before that happened I was genuinely happy to be with him. He makes me happy Harry.”

I could feel it again tears threatening spill but this time from joy.

Harry bit his lip and fiddled with his fingers. “Go.” He said just above whisper. “What?” I asked in confusion. “You should, um, you should tell him how you feel.” He didn’t even look at me as he said this, he just stared straight ahead at the dull ocean. “Are you serious?!” He nodded in reply. “Oh my gosh! Thank you so much Haz!” I said hugging him tightly.

We pulled away at the same time and I was about to walk away when I realized, “Oh, um you said you wanted to tell me something too?” I couldn’t stop smiling. “No, it’s not important I’ll tell you later.” I couldn’t help but notice that his smile was weak. “You sure you’re okay?” I asked concerned. He nodded and tilted his head towards the door, giggling and gesturing for me to go. “I love you!” I almost shouted. “I love you too…” He said, turning away.

“Where are you off to?” Niall asked, still pretending to be the parental figure. “I’m gonna see Jay!” I grinned. “What?” Lou asked. “Why?” Liam asked too. “Don’t worry, Harry approves so I'm sure you will too.” They looked over to Harry. “See ya guys!” I shout, leaving. I run into the hallway straight towards reception.

I am greeted by the same lady who gave me the teddy from Jay. “Hi, mam. I’m sorry but have you seen the gentlemen who gave you that teddybear to give to me?” I asked almost too fast. It was like I was having a sugar rush without the sugar. “He was out on the pool deck a few minutes ago but I think he headed to his room now. Its room 134 it’s down the hall to your left.” She still held her polite smile. “Thanks!” I shout running in the directions given to me.

As I near the room I can’t help but remember that she said Jay was at the pool earlier, is that why the boys didn’t want me to go that way? Maybe they were trying to protect me, I guess I understand why. Anyways that’s all in the past. When I stand outside his door my grin becomes softer as half of the brightness is washed away with insecurities. What if he thinks I'm crazy? What if he’s still hurt from yesterday and doesn’t want to see me?
