Chasing a Dream

The light on the porch flickered,

with no one around to see.

All of the woodland creatures,

were chasing-following me.

Through the blistering wind,

I darted.

Hiding and ducking,

only waiting to be found.

Through the door,

and up a floor.

Windows breaking, children laughing.

Yet it doesn't hurt anymore.

Woodland creatures all around,

to find me, I must be found.

Hide away in the chest and throw the

key across the room,

Now I'm left alone with doom.

The noise again, locks unlock.

The woodland creatures have won this time.

I rise from the chest to sing one last tune,

looking-searching-awaiting my final doom.

Tunes end while creatures watch,

Everything's a blur from there.

I see a white wall as I sit up right.

Turn my head,

the soft pillow lies beside me.

A soft glow from a window left unshattered.

It was all just a dream.
