NOTE: i am not a medical professional. these are just things that have helped me. (edited 181123 for grammar)
1) to deal with unexpected anxiety attacks, use images that force you to use emdr. now, what exactly is emdr? emdr (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a "psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences." (emdr.com). more specifically, it forces you to calm your mind down, and it's very therapeutic. below i have added some gifs that can help you practice this.
remember: follow these pictures with your eyes, and not with your head. you can also get a similar effect by watching fish swim (that has helped me a few times, just watching fish.)
2) another method, as stupid as it sounds, is to just breathe. but not hyperventilate, no. take deep breaths, in sync with something if you need to. inhale, exhale. inhale, exhale. it really helps to just breathe calmly.
3) grounding, which makes you more aware of your surroundings, can also help. this essentially forces to use your senses in a stressful situation. the first step is to look around you. then, find 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. having control of your surroundings will make it less likely for you to fall into your attacks.
i hope that this helps those of you who suffer from anxiety attacks, and if you ever need someone to talk to, my inbox is always open and you can always ask me for my social medias. please don't hesitate to ask for help. ever.
with that said, i'll leave you with one more gif:
