Chapter 14. Its Miserable Out Here

Sans P.O.V

I regret the fact that I let my guard down so easily just because a new, pretty girl fell into the Underground instead of Frisk. I should've known better, knowing that nobody has defeated Chara yet. Unlike Frisk, Chara kills people fast and without hesitation. Y/N and I were currently discussing what we should do in order to defeat Chara. It was just us two in the house, Papyrus doing whatever work he does in the meanwhile. In the back of my mind, I was worried about him, with this whole situation going around. I felt as if I should go out and check on him. I tried the shake off those feeling of worry, but they didn't seem to go away.

"SANS!"

I jolted in my spot, looking over to Y/N. She had a slight pouty face on as she stared back at me. "Were you even listening to me!?" She questioned, clearly angry at the fact that I was zoning out as she was explaining what she thought we should do. I only put my hand at the back of my neck and chuckled nervously. Understanding what I was signifying, she let out a long groan. "Do I have to explain it again? Sans, you gotta take this seriously! All the monsters' lives are at stake here!" She lectured. Jeez, I really got her upset, didn't I?

"So as I was saying..." She said before she continued to ramble about her plan. I zoned out once again, thinking about Papyrus. This time, I really wanna make an effort to save him. I'm not sure if Y/N can actually reset the timeline. Slowly, I walked over to door. I unlocked it and an opened it. There, I saw the thing I would see in the worst case scenario.

Dust.

Monster dust.

I stepped back in disbelief. Y/N came over to check out what I was looking at  "What are you-" Y/N questioned, before pausing and staring at the scene before her. Dust and blood were everywhere, and the town seemed as empty as ever. I could've sworn I saw tears in her eyes. She blinked them out before turning to me and saying his name.

"Papyrus..."

And with that single word, I got hit in the chest with severe fright, regret and worry. Papyrus... he could be in a losing battle with Chara right now. "We have to go." Y/N ordered. She was about to walk out the door until I yanked her back, teleporting to Papyrus's location in the process. There was no time for running, we weren't going to make it if we do that. But if I had only listened to my feeling earlier, we would have made it in time, and I would've been able to protect him.

Chara's P.O.V

I stood there, looking down upon Papyrus's decapitated head. At this point, he's become such an easy target that I didn't even need to try killing him any more. I raised my leg up, then smashed my foot down on Papyrus's head, making it disintegrate within seconds. Oh, how satisfying it is to hear the sound of his skull crack! The sound of snow crunching appeared and gradually increased in sound. I spun around, and locked eyes with Sans and Y/N.

We just stood there for a minute, with the tension high and uncomfortable silence between the three of us. I don't know about them, but I like it. Sans and Y/N started walking towards me. It seemed as if Sans and Y/N switched roles. Y/N shot daggers at me, like she wanted to kill me on the spot. Sans, on the other hand, seemed to be too upset to even care about me.

At the right moment, I turned around and made a run for it. As soon as I started, I looked back to see if they were chasing me. I saw Sans on the ground, holding the now deceased Papyrus's scarf that he left behind. Y/n had already gave chases and was on my tail. No matter how fast I can, Y/N was always right behind me. She summoned a bow and arrow and started launching arrows my way, trying to hit me. I was able to dodge all of them.

A large rock was in my path, so I right before my foot collided with the rock, I jumped into a portal to the void I opened in the heat of the moment, making sure it closed as soon as I entered. The last thing I heard was a loud THUD, before the portal closed completely behind me

Y/N's P.O.V

I woke up in the living room of Sans’ house. I sat up quickly, instantly regretting it. My head pounded. Putting a hand on my forehead, I discovered a small bump. Was it from when I collided with the rock? I looked around. There was nobody around, and the house seemed eerily silent. Slowly, I got off the phone couch, trying not to triggered my headache, and went to the kitchen. Though I didn't need it, I decided to get a cup of water. As I finished my cup of water, my headache calmed down. Setting the cup down, I turned around, and saw Sans leaning on the door frame, staring directly at me. He didn't seem happy, nor sad. He seemed…. angry.

Not knowing how to break the heavy tension that quick grew between us, I cleared my throat. “Um, uh, hey Sans…” I greeted awkwardly. Sans didn't seem to crack a single smile at my awkwardness. All he did was stand up straight, getting off the door frame. “We need to get back out there. Now.” He forcefully said, his tone completely bitter. Why does he sound so bitter and forceful? I thought back to what happened before I passed out… oh. Papyrus was killed, along with the rest of the Snowdin citizens. I slightly gulped. “Sans, we can't go back out there… it too dangero--” “I have a plan.” He cut off. A plan?

Was he thinking about how we could beat Chara at her own game while I was out? I began to walk out of the house, Sans following me. We walked through the once lively town of Snowdin, where everyone seemed happy, despite being trapped in this place. Now, the only thing you could see is grey; the color of the citizens’ remains. Though instead of strolling through this miserable place, he could've teleported us to wherever we're going. But we have to discuss this plan. We need to discuss this plan to stop Chara. We want to stop Chara… no,

We don't want to stop Chara, we NEED to stop Chara!
