Wes' P.O.V.
It was lunchtime and I told Parker I would take her somewhere so we can catch up on a few things. I'm just so shocked she is here but how did Shayne and Joven set this up is my question. I get up from my chair and head out to walk over to the squad room where Parker is at. I notice her and Shayne laughing over something Shayne is showing her on his phone. I smile faintly. I shake it off and walk over to her.
"Hey Parker, you ready for lunch?" I ask. She turns her away from Shayne, facing me.
"Yeah, let me get my purse and we can head out." She says as she gets and goes to her desk.
I stare at Shayne. I felt something deep down inside. I don't know if it was jealousy or my protective instincts kicking in. Why would I be jealous?
"Hey man, you alright?" I'm snapped back into reality when I realized Shayne asked me a question.
"Yeah I'm just tired that's all." I say as a walk over to Parker.
"You ready?" I ask.
"Yep, let's go." She says as we both walk out of the office and head towards the elevator.
We decided to walk to lunch since it was such a nice day outside. We decided to go to Lemonade. We ordered our food and sat down. I started the conversation."So, how long have you been planning this?!" I ask. She smirks.
"For about 2 years, but I loved where I was working back in Ohio. I missed not seeing you everyday. Yeah we played games together and streamed on twitch with Joven but it wasn't the same. I missed my skyscraper."
She smiles as she takes another bite of her food. I go into full Elmo laugh. Then we both go into a laughing fit. Workers and other costumers look at us with strange looks.
"Oh I've missed the nicknames." I say as I take a sip of my drink.
"So where we you staying? L.A. is crazy expensive to live in." I ask.
"Oh. I'm staying with Shayne. He has an extra room in his apartment. Joven asked people around the office to see if anyone needed a roommate or if their was any apartments available and Joven said that Shayne had a room and he talked to his landlord and boom and then Shayne and I exchanged numbers and we just started talking about moving in and then boom again. I'm here." She explained.
"Woah. Well I guess I owe it all to Shayne and Joven for reuniting us back together." I say with a smile.
"Yeah. They're okay." She says with a smirk.
"So I've noticed you and Shayne are a little close?" I say with my eyebrows furrowed together.
She looked at me with a seriousness in her eyes. "We are just friends and plus, he is my roommate. I don't plan on dating anytime soon. You know I don't date." She says.
"Oh yeah, trust me. I know you don't. You never did in high school. All you cared about was wrestling and not breaking probation."
She gave me dagger eyes. "Don't remind me of probation. It was the worst year and a half of my life."
"Hey!" I says holding my hands up in defense. "It's not my fault you got caught with destruction of property."
"Hey. Junior year sucked for me. I was so close from getting adopted but then I got accused of cheating and stealing SAT answers and which I didn't! And the Jones's didn't want a trouble maker." She said as looked down. I noticed her wipe a tear away.
"Hey hey hey. I'm so sorry Parker. I didn't know that happened. Why did you tell me?!" I ask.
"Because it was better for me to keep it a secret and so you're family wouldn't pity me and plus. I was better off on my own. I always had been."
I just looked at her with pity. I hated that I brought up her probation. She had the worst childhood and I reminded her of it.
"Can..can we go? I'm not that hungry anymore." She says, still looking down and getting her things together and getting out of the booth and walking towards the door.
"Wait! Parker!" I ran out the door and she was already halfway down the sidewalk. "Dammit!" I whisper. I start walking back towards the office.
Back at the office
As I made my way back into the office, I noticed Parker wasn't at her desk. I saw Shayne though.
"Hey, have you seen Parker?" I ask.
Shayne shot daggers my way.
"What the hell happened? She ran back in here, grabbed her laptop and headphones and make her way towards the roof. What did you do to her?!" Shayne said, with his face slightly getting red and a fist getting into a balled formation.
"I said something about her past and I shouldn't of and it really got to her and she ran off and now I feel like a dick." I say as I ran my fingers through my silver hair.
"Well I think you should go fix it. You're her best friend. She'll forgive you I'm sure. I would help but I gotta go shoot a Show With No Name." Shayne says as he pats me on the shoulder and makes he way towards set.
I took a deep breath and I ran towards the stairs that led to the roof. I see Parker, sitting there, with her back facing me, looking at the crazy city below.
"Parker, I'm so sorry I mentioned your past. I know I broke one of the codes. Please forgive me." I say as a walk up to her.
Silence.
"Parker. Please. God. I screwed it up. It's your first day here and I already screwed it up. God I'm such an idiot." I say as a smack my head.
"You're not an idiot Wesley." She says as she pats down, motioning me to sit next to her.
"I was the one with the fucked up life. I hated every second of it and you were always there to save me. You were always. There." She says as a tear falls from her eyes. I take my hand and wipe it away. I cup her face into my hands.
"And I'm not going anywhere. You can count on that. The Wesley and Parker United is back. And there is nothing. Nothing! That can break this." I say as I pull her head towards my chest. She takes a deep breath and continues to lean her head on my side and I rest my head on hers. And we are just looking at the city down below. I had my best friend back. She's here. In LA. With me. Nothing is gonna stop us.
And that concludes chapter 5. So, what did you think about this chapter? With Wes bringing up touchy subjects from the past. I hope you guys are enjoying this story and if so, please give it a vote. It'll mean so much to me.
Thank you and continue on!
